So after last year's tantrums we tried a new vet today for Petal's annual vaccination. A very quick drive and a pre-arranged entry straight into the surgery. Sadly hissing and spitting were the order of the day. She had to be tipped out of the carrier.

The injection was quickly done and then she went straight back into her carrier. Home visit next year. I'm currently getting the silent treatment.

On a sadder note some there were two very young kittens left on my neighbour's doorstep yesterday. Way too young to be away from their mother. I called the council and they were collected within the hour. The other neighbour who keeps feeding the feral cats will get another talking to with warnings about the responsibilities of living in a body corporate.

So I made the mistake of giving my cat some premium canned fish food instead of his usual dry food. Now he wont eat his biscuits and tries to emotionally blackmail till I give him canned fish food. Anyway here is some of my Cats emotions.

This was on Conan last night.

Daughter bought some new fish for her pond. Madam cat (FF or female feline as she is known) was keeping a very close eye on the proceedings though when the fish were released she had no idea of how to catch them even though she put one of her front legs up to the armpit into the pond.

Tomorrow I'm making the trip to Mudgee to collect a mother cat and her tiny 2 day old babies, who were born at the pound. I'm bringing them back to a local no-kill shelter. Hopefully will be a smooth trip. Of course, photos will be posted of the cuteness :p

Don't worry- she will learn soon enough!
She did appear with fish who were the previous inhabitants though we think that they may well have died of old age first and then she found them floating on the surface! At least she hasn't learnt Seamus (the other cat)'s trick of bringing in live mice and dropping them in daughter's shoes as a gift. Daughter has become diligent at checking her shoes before she puts them on :)

Maybe I spoke to soon. FF has been quite ill over the past few days (appears to have been bitten by something and had a toxic reaction). Daughter sent this message with the text
"It would appear FF is feeling better"

Score - Fish - zero, cat - one

Here's Rose. She's about 9 months, and had 5 babies with her. Struggling with feeding so the kittens are being helped by another mum at the rescue who had kittens on the same day. They are about 1-2 weeks premi, only weighing around 50gms.

Seriously cute cat and kitten! Are they still in the shelter? The kitten looks to have 'Bengal' type markings.

I would still stick to the tabby cat markings here, with a distinctive caramel like underbelly. Sure her ears look longer, but that could be the angle perspective you shot at. Great picture of contentment isn't it ?...of course.

These hybrid Cats are a bit of a worry. What happens if their genes get into the feral Cat population?

These cats in AU have to be at least 6 generations removed from wild species. Not much left after that, all cats are natural killers and should be indoors/in cat runs only.

Just remember the first pigs to Australia only needed a couple of generations to revert to boars. Plus a semi-domesticated Fox was blocked coming into Australia.
