Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

Maybe it's something to do with protection - nothing can get to you if you are enclosed?

That's exactly the reason.

As long as they can step into somethiing, whether a box, a bag, or under a rug then they will happily sleep or rest there.
Even if the other 95% of their body doesn't fit into said space.
But the more encapsulated they are the safer they feel.

They look so funny when they have their heads in a bag/box/under a rug and the rest of the body is out. Patsy used to have a thing about towels on the clothes line. They needed to be almost dry though. She would jump up and swing on a towel to get it to fall down, then would hide under it on the ground but usually it was only her head that was concealed. Sometimes there would be multiple towels on the ground as she decided she wanted a different one.

I have a carry-on roller bag that I loaned to a friend. When I went to collect it after a few months I was told that a cat had been living in it. When I took the bag home, the inside was covered with clumps of dark cat fur and the outside was covered with lighter coloured cat fur. I guess it had been the resting / hiding spot for 2 different cats.

Our vet indicated that we should feed Munn the Cat (she is diabetic) Hills MD, a prescription food costing about $40/1.8kg bag. Should we be feeding her something else?

All of my reading supports diabetic cats doing better on a raw diet or even wet food than the dry diet.

There are 3 diabetic dry diets - Hills, Royal Canin and ProPlan and all I believe have a wet food offering too.

Before deciding to move to raw, I was starting to look at the nutritional panels on other high quality foods - looking at fat/ carbs etc

I had to look very closely at the second photo as at first glance she appeared to be a gift wrapped cat.
Then I saw the opening!
Such a pretty girl.

Reminds me, how is the sweet young Miss Daisy faring? Had the consultant visit yet?

She's pretty but somewhat annoying sometimes owing to her deafness and loud howling..

Daisy is ok, the other dog has been out of the house most of the time for the last few days and Miss D has perked up and being a bit more like her usual self. Trainer comes tomorrow after work so fingers crossed we can restore some harmony.

Deafness that comes with being a white cat? I forgot that they sometimes are. She is still a lovely girl.

Good luck with the trainer - hope they come up with some strategies that will work.

IIRC 90% of White Cats are deaf because of a mutation.

Thanks Milaboo, we did try the Hills MD wet but MtC doesn't like it.
On another note, spotted this in Lisbon this afternoon:

Yes, its genetic. She is lovely, if a little needy due to not being able to hear.

Actually about 70% of white cats with blue eyes, 40% white cats with one blue eye, <20% white cats with normal/yellow eyes.

Bella's eyes are definitely not blue, more of a yellowish colour.

I've previously had a blue eyed white that waas not deaf; unfortunately one of the neighbours stole her....

[h=1]Mr Biggles utter cough of a cat[/h][h=3]www.utterbastardcat.com[/h][h=3]Male Domestic Short Hair[/h][FONT=&quot]PLEASE NOTE: Mr Biggles is not available for overseas adoption, if you think he's a cough normally he'd be 1000% worse after being stuck in quarantine for six months then on a plane. So we're not going to put anyone's lives at risk by doing that... Mr Biggles will be adopted locally (that means no interstate either, sorry Aussies). Fans can write to him via [email protected] with your missives of admiration or your own cough / cough cat stories (with pictures please!) and Mr Biggles will publish the ones he deems acceptable on his website utterbastardcat.com. Thank you everyone who has written to us about Mr Biggles, we are trying to respond to each and every one of you!
STOP PRESS! Exclusive interview with Mr Biggles now available for viewing by his adoring public. Media requests and applications for slavery to Lord Bigglesworth can be sent to [email protected]. Yes he has his own website, utterbastardcat.com. He'll be publishing more about his life, including "stalking chickens 101", "how to play with a dog and not kill it", "getting what you want from human slaves" and of course what's he's well known for... "rip shred tear - being firm with boundaries".
Mr Biggles (also known as Lord Bigglesworth) is an utter utter utter cough. He looks gorgeous with his slinky shiny black fur and big yellow eyes... but beware. If he doesn't like what you're doing he will give you a nip! Sometimes he likes to swipe at your feet too. It just depends on what he can reach at the time.
Mr Biggles does not like to be thwarted. He throws a catty tantrum if he can't go outside when he wants to be let out (and he wasn't allowed outside for the first couple of weeks at his carers house so there was a few tantrums!). Not being fed on time, or allowed to strut across the kitchen benches helping himself to whatever is there is also a tantrum inducing exercise.
Mr Biggles is a despot and dictator, he will let you know he is not happy, which is often because things are often just not up to his high standards. There is some warning that Lord Bigglesworth is displeased with you, his eyes will go dark and tail will start swishing harder. Mr Biggles likes his cuddles on his terms, and will sit in your lap when he decides it's time. If the stroking is not up to his standards, he will nip you.
Shhhhh... Mr Biggles does have a secret soft side... he plays with kittens and actually does love a cuddle from time to time. He loves to be involved with what you're doing and loves to have a chat, he will respond if you talk to him. While he's not a fan of being picked up, likes a pat and cuddle from time to time and even permits kisses on his shiny black head if he's feeling mellow. He loves sleeping on the end of the humans bed, and in his cat bed (and he snores just a little bit, it's so cute). He loves to be out in the backyard stalking the chickens and supervising the gardening, and he has been saying playing with the dog (and not drawing blood).
And now I'm in trouble for telling his softie secrets so I have been ordered to say that Lord Bigglesworth believes he was put on this earth to be decorative and be worshipped by his human slaves!
Mr Biggles is not a cat for the inexperienced or faint hearted. He is a full blooded tomcat with very firm boundaries. Mr Biggles needs an owner that won't take his nipping personally but won't let him get away with bad behaviour either. He will make the right person an exceptional feline companion for life, because when he gives his heart it will be absolutely and fully given without return. Are you that one special person for Mr Biggles?

My cat decided to poop under the spare bed this morning - smack bang in the middle too so it was next to impossible to each reach it. First time he's done that.

cough cat.
