Sorry to hear about Munn Buzzard :(

My diabetic cat has gone into remission, which is great news. No insulin for almost a month now, with no BSL readings over 8. Fingers crossed it stays like that for a while!

Autofocus illumination

The assist light (also known as AF illuminator) "activates" passive autofocus systems in low-light and low-contrast situations in some cameras. The lamp projects visible or IR light onto the subject, which the camera's autofocus system uses to achieve focus. Many cameras that do not have a dedicated autofocus assist lamp instead use their built-in flash, illuminating the subject with stroboscopic bursts of light. The strobe bursts aid the autofocus system in the same fashion as a dedicated assist light, but have the disadvantage of startling or annoying living subjects.

During my recent trip kitty stayed with my vets so they did more glucose testing - confirmed at 2 units of insulin is not enough to get him to normal but 3 units puts him into too low. So there is no happy median for him ☹️

Unsuccessful trial of tramal too for his arthritis - he's a cough to give pills too and it was not a sustainable long term treatment for that reason.

He was Velcro kitty for a good few days but slowly settling back into normal routines but I know our time is running out - I've told him he's allowed to go off to sleep, and in the meantime, I make the most of the morning snuggles especially.

It's a little hard with the syringes but he gets a generous 2 units.

He's been my companion for 14 years - got him shortly after moving to Australia and he's my first cat of my own (vs family cats - which we had my whole life).

Ours has been on 0.5 U for a while. Okay to do if you get the 0.3ml tiny syringes.

I think my vet is concerned about the margin for error - he's above normal on 2 but way too low on 3 and risk of hypo is high.
