Obtaining 210 status credits will not be cheap. You might want to consider the benefits of SG versus the price you will pay to gain it.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Thanks for confirming. I had thought that seemed to be the case but wanted to check given it's so... different to the situation pre-July 2014. Must have been a pretty big change for everyone.

The Perth trip is already in the cards, and I'll probably squeeze in another trip for work (40 SCs). Some of the Perth trips are showing up cheaper if I fly SYD-MEL-PER so I was wondering if there were still a few workarounds in existence? (JQ max bundle and price match, that sort of thing?) Assuming I manage 40 SCs each way to PER it brings it down to 90 SCs, so I don't mind an impromptu trip somewhere just to make the balance... would still appreciate any tips you have on how to do it smartly though :)

 This year's first prize for understatement :p. Apoplexy abounded - I think some folks' blood pressure has only just returned to normal .

A JQ price match will not earn any SCs, as you can't add a plus bundle. There are some anomalies with JQ though. QF MEL-SIN disc Y 30SC, JQ MEL-SIN Y plus pack (not Max) 40SC.

PER-MEL-SYD will earn more than PER-SYD.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Hi everyone

I currently have 1,110 SC and have another 130 SC booked. Keen to hit platinum for the first time which means I have a shortfall of 160 SC after my planned travel. My anniversary is 30 September so I have some time and just wondering does anyone have any useful tips on how to get 160 SC? I'm not banking on any double SC promotions coming through (although would love one!) so any tips are extremely welcome :D

Many thanks

First of all, where are you based out of? Or if you're willing to add flights onto already planned trips, which ports are options to start the run out of?

Ahh yes, I am based out of Sydney. Not keen to add to any existing trips I have booked. I have thought about SYD-PER return in J, and SYD-MEL-HBA-MEL-SYD in J as well which would be cheaper - both of which will yield 160SC. I can generally fly any time of the year except during the month of May.

There's not that many great runs out of SYD. Off the top of my head the SYD-MEL-HBA run is probably the best option when there isn't a sale on. Others may have better suggestions.

A run to HBA will probably be the best. Have a look ate the prices out of CBR, as they may be a little cheaper.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

One advantage of a SYD-MEL-HBA (and vv) run is it can be easily done on the same day, though it could involve a lag at HBA.

Hi how would a flight out of CBR work? Would it generally mean flying Y to CBR and then going MEL-HBA and back?

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Didn't receive the SC offer on classic rewards. Just booked classic CBR-SYD -BKK -SYD-CBR for August. Would have booked all in J but very few jets on CBR-SYD-CBR, mainly freaking dashed 8s, which don't take a normal i sized rollaboard in the O/H.

Flying on EK so will get to experience their J product and CD in BKK.

Yes, a positioning flight. Via SYD earns the same SC as MEL so adds to the flexibility.

Hi, have been so busy have not had time to look into this but today I have been trying some random dates and link just does not work. Either get a message saying browser not working or nothing happens except returns to todays date and first cities I checked - if that makes sense. Wasted so much time and so frustrated!

FWIW, to get my SG I had to earn a quick 100SC so I did

MEL-xSYD-OOL-SYD-OOL-xSYD-MEL

started at 8:30, finished about 22:00 that night I think.

the run to OOL was $259 each way (so there is 80SC) and then the quick OOL-SYD-OOL flights were about $120 or somthing I think.

Did you have issues with the points crediting at all?
Im pretty sure the FF system has a mental breakdown when you do two same sectors in one day.
eg: SYD-OOL then SYD-OOL.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Yes you are correct, It did not work initially, I only got the 80. I had to call the FF heldpesk and they manually credited them. It was not an issue asside from

"what on earth were you doing flying so much in one day?"
"Needed the SC to reach SG for the first and probably only time"
"Ahhhhhh, nice one, I hope we looked after you"

Yeah, nice.
I wish mine was for pleasure :(

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

I've finally jagged a 50% bonus SC offer one month into my year on a 0 SC balance. Oh the irony. Having said that, if anyone spots anything that works our sub $5/SC I'd consider it. Happy to position from Darwin.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

All, Just found this great site / Forum... I have 30 days to go and 245 SC away from Platinum.... I can probably see 60-100 from normal use in May... but I need a quick 140-180 to be safe...

Anyone in a similar place right now that is busy researching that can help, I'll share what I find....
