On about 10 flights that I had in 2016 on AA, boarding often commenced early (i.e., at 40 minutes). The rule is never to be late (or even on time).

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

How many bookings here Jessica? Ta
It was one booking which I played with on Google flights before clicking 'book with AA'.

YVR-BOS-PTY-BOS-LAX was the actual routing I used. I then chose the multi flight sectors that didn't affect the price.

Under "Simpler and Fairer" Mk 2 domestic USA flights under a certain distance earn 30 SC's not 40 ...

.....and some routes now get 150 not 120 per sector eg HNL/LAX/MIA.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

This is an absolutely amateur question so sorry for my ignorance.

I have to take a business trip to Hong Kong from Melbourne in a few weeks and need a few more status credits to hit silver. Doing the math if I fly direct economy its 80SC, but if I fly via Brisbane it's 110SC, for a similar price. Is this normal to do, to extend the travel time by a few hours to get these SCs?

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Totally normal for the people on here. "Why fly direct, when you can connect."

Sure.

Later in the year I am coming home (to SYD) from CNS.

CNS-xMEL-SYD was a couple of dollars cheaper and offered twice the SCs.

A few years back, I would fly SYD-xHKG-DXB for the extra status credits compared to the direct QF flight (this was before simpler and fairer).

And of course, for those of us in WA desiring to fly QF internationally, we don't have much choice...

Happy wandering

In the first year or two of somewhat frequent flying and trying to make the PS/SG mark I did CNS-xBNE-SYD and vv. Now I just do it for the fun of it hahah (I need to get my head checked)

Did SYD-xMEL-CNS in January as it was cheaper but normally I find that to be the most expensive option, with xBNE only a few dollars more than the direct.

Absolutely. For my upcoming trip from ASP-SYD instead of flying direct I'm doing ASP-ADL-MEL-SYD.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Remembering that transiting BNE dom-int involves a bus (or train) transfer between terminals and the like, but it's not a massive deal.

although that is one reason I actually declined an opportunity to score an extra 60SC for "free" when flying home next month from europe. I had the opportunity to do BUD-xHEL-xHKG-xBNE-MEL, but opted for HKG-MEL direct (QF) as after all that flying, even in J, and with F lounges at HKG for 5 or so hours, I just couldn't be bothered stuffing around at BNE at 0600ish for a few hours going between terminals and sitting on a 73H for another 2 hours just for those SC's. at some point the idea of so much flying and the need to just get home and reduce the stops overrode the lure of SC's (plus if I'm flying HKG-oz I'd rather it be 9 hours in the suites, rather than whatever it is to BNE then the 73H. sleep probably more important by that point in time methinks)

However leaving oz, then sure.

5 SC flight ideas? -_-

Find the cheapest flight from your local airport. Think regional and close. around $80 mark each way. What is you home airport?

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

QF Au domestic flights have a starting SC earn per sector of 10, no?
Above that, then it goes up by 5s.
Have not ever seen a 5 SC earn for an Au domestic flight, QF or VA.

Give me a good reason WHY YOU WOULD NOT..In my book it's a no brainer. We went to Cairns recently from Melboune VIA Sydney for that very reason.
Going to Darwin soon via Adelaide for extra sC's.
GO FOR IT !!!
