Brag away! :p
Is this the trip you've talked of for a while? Where are you off to?

Yes the trip I've rambled on about for too long. Hence trying not to mention the war, again.
It's just 7 hours in AKL. Will visit BNE airport, both terminals and AKL this Saturday. Will see mum on Sunday morning on the way back. Depart ADL at 14:00 and land back there at 12:50. 22:50 hours. All in 737 J. :( Not suitable for dogs...

For the thread topic:
ADL-BNE 60SC
BNE-AKL 80SC
x2 for the return = 280SC
x1.5 for Aquire bonus offer = 420 SC

about $4.2 per SC

Meanwhile, this same weekend a big heap of friends are in Queenstown. Didn't plan that very well.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

I'm trying not to brag,
but about to set off to earn 420 SC in 23 hours (plus driving to the airport) for $1700.
I think the cost/benefit/time analysis is fairly positive. ;)

I would have started the post by saying "you call that a status run, THIS is a status run" :-)

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Hi all, I have a conference in Washington DC Sept 21-23. Currently Business saver fares to ADL-LAX for $5300 leave Sunday 18th arrive Sunday LAX 8am depart LAX 25th. Would like to do status run on AA first since this is far cheaper anyway then booking direct to ADL-DCA. I have found for 19th LAX-DFW-MIA-DCA then 25th DCA-LAX (plane type 738) arriving LAX 10am with Q A380 flight standard 10pm departure for 1318 USD. There is a non direct which squeezes in Atlanta between DFW-MIA for 1291 USD.....
Firstly the 32B (2 class) is pretty good to fly in First or Business.

Enough of that.

A cursory glance shows flight via DEN (e.g. LAX-DEN-DFW-ORD-BWI) at USD1035 can earn 260 SC's.

Hooray.

Now to factor the delta between planned travel and SCs needed for plati—

ahem.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Wrecked!!!
I blame the wonderful crew member (BNE-AKL) who seemed to decide I needed to drink the whole bottle of Tokay since they opened it for me. The AKL couches didn't help. Tip for the young player, sleep on the nice booth near burger king or on the floor. Don't try to use a metal hand rest as a pillow. As with my previous airport sleeping experience I was woken at 3am looking for pax missing from a flight. Timing was minutes under 24 hours between driving into the short term car park at ADL and getting back to the pay machine.
280SC in already, just waiting for the 50% bonus.

You both live in ADL and you're surprised by this...? :p ;)

But the people getting married don't live in Adelaide. ;)

Ok, I need 400 status credits by the 30th of April to retain WP. I live in Brisbane.

Should I just forget it and drop back to gold? I am LTG. Currently looking at options in this thread.

Thanks in advance

jeepers. that's a tough call in a short period of time. it will cost you!

you could possibly do over ANZAC weekend - BNE-SYD-CHC r/t in J/F for 330 SC then some sort of domestic run, or 2xBNE-SYD-CNS type r/t in J (200 SC each r/t) but it would be exxy. Maybe BNE-BKK then go around asia a bit on MH fares, but it's likely cheaper fares are not going to be about with limited time and close in to departure.

I think I'd forget it myself - it seems a little too far to me.

I agree. Put the cash towards a more efficient run to get you across the line next membership year.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

I am doing a SR from MEL to PTY for a weekend. I am staying there for three nights - does that mean it has become a holiday?

Thanks for posting your run Jessica. I certainly wasn't planning to do a run on my next trip to the states but now I am! Wish I could have a few nights in PTY myself but unfortunately have to do a same day turn around. Anyone know how long it usually takes for AA flights to post to a QF account?

Usually the evening of the flight landing, if not 24 hours after. AA are usually pretty good.

QF SC now at 470.
J class WLG - SYD - ADL booked weeks out, Aud$12xx for 120 QF SC.
Will wait for a J sale next time though.
WLG Airport is just so small.
Will be shocking when SQ as an opposition airline to QF comes in if they don't expand the international arrivals/departures immigration areas.

At $10/SC this is hardly a status run.

I suppose a "run" is when someone is earning SCs when they don't actually need to fly, and in that case, it can still qualifies as one. How much cash somebody throws at it for how much or little gain is their own decision.

To clarify, at $10/SC this hardly qualifies for a thread titled "Best status runs".
