Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

SYD to NZ one way F and J back gives 200 QF SC for about $2500.
Approx $12.50 per QF SC in one trip on one weekend.
Very expensive yes I know but meets requirements.
Am on Android phone so cant link to colleague who asked this question.
EDIT: for Alek - If you don't want to do TT (TransTasman), then its J all over Aust. In one weekend, its a long hard odyssey. If over 2 weekends, not that bad.
Cost will also be a factor.
SYD - BNE - PER - ADL - MEL - SYD.
BNE - PER in J or whJ will earn the most.
Do a play around with the QF miles flown points earn QF SC earn calculator.
QF also does not let you do more than 2 sectors a day, so you might have to do SYD- BNE on a late Fri, then first flight BNE - PER Sat, PER - ADL mid afternoon getting to ADL night (overnight), then Sun contiune back to SYD.
I have no idea where you got the idea that QF only let you do 2 sectors a day.

I had wondered the same. For example, I have done SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD on the same day, like many others here. Also SYD-BNE-DRW-BNE-SYD.

Who knows what goes on in the mind of a pooch?

I myself am doing SYD-ADL-MEL-AKL over a day and then AKL-BNE-ADL-SYD also in one day shortly.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

Does anyone know if a 'stopover' can be added/forced on QF domestic bookings. E.g. looking at doing the OOL-ADL return in J going via Melbourne on the way there. Can a 48 hour stopover be forced in Melbourne or will I have to book a return OOL-ADL and then do a separate ADL-MEL return between. I will be using a voucher so the multicity option is out.

No "stopovers" are allowed on domestic bookings (only same day connections are allowed). In your example you'd need to purchase two separate tickets.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

125 QF SC in a day, will need you to get at least one J or a subclass of it in there somewhere.
You will need to book 2 different trips, as QF seem to have a limit of 2 that you can do a day.
SYD - PER - SYD can be done, but if a plane goes techno, you are stuck in PER.
SYD - PER one way J is 80, back in flexY is 45 I think.
I would do flexY SYD - PER and J back. Might as well try out the QFd PER J lounge if you have not done it.
Edit: Just had a look, flexY SYD - PER is 40 QF SC, that means you are under by 5.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

Wow, Eminere, now that is one big one.
My point in all this, something which our colleagues that ask, never want to say, is how many trips are they wanting to make to earn the requested SC.
For Alek, my tip SYD - AKL in F and then back in J will net that 200 QF SC in one trip.
I prefer to get it all done in one trip nowadays, rather than many small trips.
ADL - MEL in whY gives me 10 QF SC, and return gives me 20 QF SC. In that trip, I can pull off over next Easter, then MEL - AKL both in F, (lets just say), 240 + 20 = 260 QF SC, thats PS right under my belt.
For your trip, is it all in one PNR? Doesn't QF put a limit of 2 trips that can be done in quick succession.
I have in the past tried to do an SC run all over Aust domestically, a message comes up that booking like this is not possible.
ADL - PER - BNE - SYD - MEL - ADL all in one booking, somewhere in there QF puts up that message.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! [not the discussion thread]

You can only book two trips in one day on a multi-trip itinerary.

You can have as many trips as you can book on individual PNRs with no protection for missed flights.

A limit applies when booking a multi-city itinerary using the multi-city booking engine. The easy workaround for this is to simply book the flights as individual sectors, in which case you can book as many flights as you want.

Your options domestically are pretty limited value for money wise. I think you're best bet would be doing SYD-OOL return as a red e-deal and the trusty OOL-MEL via SYD in J one direction and Flex Y the other to net 140SCs at a cost of $1212. Not sure if achievable in one day though depending on the last flight back from OOL.

The pooch does only seem to want to do things online (which is understandable) but is suggesting a QF website/booking engine limitation is a global limit, which it is not as you say. a TA or phone agent can easily book X sectors in a day into a PNR.

1. Please for the love of God learn how to use the reply with quote function. it's not hard. PLEASE!!!!

2. You have mentioned SYD-AKL in F and return in J twice now in recent posts. WHY?

It would be far more cost effective to do SYD-AKL in J, and AKL-SYD (or wherever) in F, booked as a one way from NZ when a sale is on. It's much cheaper and more often than not one can get the $600-$700ish J special ex-AU and the NZD$899 F special ex-AKL to align (I just did this about 2 weeks ago as it happens). Thus your 200 specified SC can be hard for ~$1400 AIUD, far less than the price you were quoting and well under $10/SC.

All that is required is some foresight and planning and keeping an eye on sale fares popping up (they are reasonably common) and booking it.

Besides, on a practical level I find the morning F flights from MEL/SYD/BNE-AKL (and soon CHC :) ) in F to be rather poor offering wise - the Breakfast is more or less the same offering as in J, and it's just overall not a great experience compared to flying the return in F where the catering is superior out of AKL and the F options are absolutely superior to J on the route on EK (IMHO)

I know you would say you want F out of SYD for the QF Flounge, but that's a personal view, and personally if one wants a more economic status run then saving $$$ would probably outweigh the "need" to use the F lounge (unless a QF Platinum or above which gives access, of course).

in my view anyway.
