I need 205 SC's by 30 November to retain Gold this year (it's been a quiet year of travel for me sadly). I'm based in Melbourne and could afford to take a few days to do a bit of travel to get the points and retain Gold.

What suggestions do members here have to do a quick status run and rack up the 205 SC's. I'd preferably like to do it all in one run.

Thanks.....

Apologies! Melbourne.

I think the following would be a few hundred cheaper than DPS:

MEL-xSYD-CHC in QF J (120SC)
CHC-AKL in JQ Y Plus Bundle (10SC)
AKL-xSYD-MEL in QF J (120SC)

Book the QF flights as a multi-city and they should price around $1700. The JQ fare comes in at around $100 with the Plus bundle depending on dates/times.

As above, but as you require fewer SC you can skip the SYD transit on one of the QF legs. Should save $100-200.

There is currently a J sale to Bali. Should be around $1800 and 320 SCs from Melbourne.

Bear in mind that there is the high likelihood of a volcanic eruption near Bali that will cause massive disruptions if it eventuates as speculated.

The pricing in this special probably reflects softer demand as a consequence.

Thanks, but the available of those sale fares is thin, most dates that work for me working out to $2.5k-$3kpp.

Thanks all for the suggestions.

My confirmed travel up until March 2018.
Total: 1,080 Status Credits

I'm currently Silver, so need the full 1,400 to Plat.

Ideas on what to explore?
I am in ORD from Jan 26-Feb 09 and can do a run on AA (lost on YUP fares, and still working out how to get a bunch of connections on sale fares)
I am in WAW from Feb 11 - Mar 03 and can do a run on AY/BA/IB (can't find anything cheap)
I am in SGN/HKG in March, so CX/Malaysian fares?

Other than that I have a Magic voucher for DSC on QF flights :) I'd have to go before December tho.

Thoughts on where to look for the 320 SCs?

How many of those SCs will be on QF metal. Ie, have you factored in the loyalty bonus of 50 SC of every 500 SC with QF metal?

50 SC of every 500 SC with QF metal?

~190 on qantas :(

Seems like it will be minimum $1800 to get those SC's. That isn't really worth it unless I had somewhere specific (destination) that the run was helping me to get to.

Fingers crossed for some good MH sale or a mistake fare.

It'd help if you let us know where you are located! ;)
And how much you want to spend in either points / pay.
My mate and I are at BKK airport at 2.41am in CIP Lounge waiting for our BKK-KUL-MNL flights and then tomorrow MNL-KUL-BKK J on MH for $830 and 240 SC

Used points/pay SYD-BKK-SYD

MEL-BNE-CNS-BNE-MEL in J ... 1 day...

Ended up finding a fare on skyscanner that Flight Centre accepted. Booked for just over $1800 with 320 credits. Thanks All

There are runs from ORD which can get 60 SC in J each leg (eg; ORD-BOS, ORD-MCO, ORD-DFW). usually can do a couple in a day.

Hi all, I’ve never posted in this thread!

I’m 175sc off P1 and have decided to go to renew it. I have 1 full day free in Singapore in a few weeks for a run.
Found Singapore-KUL-Langkawi and back for 160 sc for about 550aud.

Anyone else got any bright ideas? Don’t know the Asian runs very well.

Maybe look at a Jestar Plus pack ex SIN for the last SC's ...

Yup that is on the list also as I have to get to Hong Kong the next day anyway - thanks!

Just wondering if there is anything else I’ve missed...

That run to Langkawi is pretty good value, but it's only 120SC return rather than 160SC.

SIN-KUL-DAC, SIN-KUL-MNL and SIN-KUL-CMB RT all come in at 200SC for around $1000 AUD.

Also just confirming you have already met the P1 requirement for 2700SC on QF metal?

I would strongly recommend avoiding DAC. Immigration requirements are a PITA and likely to be very, very slow. The airport is in really rough knick with very limited facilities - it's probably in my bottom 3 airports that i have been to.

Thank you for the pick up seems others missed it too! - damn the infamous QF status credit calculator must be wrong or I sleep typed my destinations in.... that’s annoying - I’m sure I did it right as well, clearly not.

The other options you have listed are sold out on my free day of travel unfortunately:(

Yes thanks - have met the QF requirement.
