Any one have any ideas on flight routing to Port of Spain from Perth? Travel class business however would like to maximize the status credit earn (QF numbers inc code shares where possible) without the trip taking 60 hours plus to arrive. Cheers

Without dates or your budget it's a bit of a stab in the dark.

POS-MIA-DFW-LAX-MEL-PER can be done on QF flight numbers in 40 hours for just under $8.5k.

Just an update re MH J intra Asia

I did DPS-KUL-DPS in MH J for AUD$350 earned 120SCs = $2.91 per SC

Pretty good value, plus DPS positioning could be done really cheaply with JQ ( I try to avoid JQ due to personal preferences tho)

How did you find the experience? I am contemplating doing it to try business for the first time. Are the lounges any good? and was it the 737-800?

I think MH is a good airline but keep in mind that DPS-KUL is serviced by 787s (?only)

DPS airport has a basic generic lounge (nothing special). followed by a short bus ride from the gate to the plane (737), a good meal and full service for a 3hr flight.

MH's FLounge at KUL is good enough, although rather small compare with the business lounge. They both have showers and sleeping areas.

Thanks, definitely an option for me to consider.

MH are currently running Business Promo fares ex Kota Kinabalu to Perth return from 2199 MYR or ~$660 AUD.

Book by 22/10/2017
Travel period 24/10/2017 - 31/3/2018

The cheapest fares appear to be BKI-PER direct, but the better "SC value" is in BKI-xKUL-PER, which nets 220SC return but is slightly more expensive.

BKK-xKUL-ICN RT on MH J for ~$700 / 280SC.

Can fly A330 for all legs. Book by tomorrow, fly by April 2018. Available on Skyscanner or MH website.

I need 1150 to retain my WP. I have DSC Vs (3x) at my disposal. What's the best use of them? I'd prefer some longer J flights, but I'm not adverse to doing a nutso trans-US flight to PTY. Departing MEL.

How much travel do you have planned for your next membership year? Is it really worth chasing?

You'd be looking at >$5k in flights and a week of flying. I think a few DSC returns to NZ or SE Asia will be the most sane (or rather least insane) way to do this - you could break them up over a few weekends.

When's your renewal date?

None planned as of yet, but I will probably have some come up for work. IMO it is worth it :P

Renewal is Sep 30 2018.

Sorry for brief off-topic query, but I have been absent from this thread for a while and am wondering what these DSC vouchers are and how to get them? I won't be on a QF aircraft until at least Mar 2018 but feel I have missed something

You missed something. There was a targeted DSC promo in September. It's now expired.

Got an interesting domestic status run question for the gurus here:

Does anyone know how reliable delivery of checked in luggage is when doing a status run? Based in MEL, I to need to spend several days in SYD and am taking the opportunity to do a quick status run via OOL. So MEL-SYD-OOL-SYD (60 SC for $294 to retain SG :-) ), however if I check in baggage, what's the chance it will pop out after the first flight into SYD rather than the last given that I'll effectively be at the final destination after the first flight?

Any other interesting SC runs besides PTY that can begin in the US?

QF have an above average rate with getting the bags delivered to the right place, higher than 99% and something like 99% of missing ones delivered within 24 hours of being in the wrong place. (yes ok so the same place in this case)

I doubt you will have a problem.

While not a status run, it's work, I'm on 5 flights, SYD-MEL-MQL-MEL-SYD-COO in one day soon and I'm confident my bag will be there at the right baggage claim when I arrive.

You won't be able to check it MEL-xSYD-xOOL-SYD.

MH Sale flying J:

any ideas for a run for 60 SC for SG? I have 3 weeks to get them... and figure it is probably worth trying to achieve being so close!
