Not sure if this is the correct thread for this question, so if not then admin pls move.

Looking at a run Brisvegas-CHC, then CHC-MEL-ADL-MEL-CHC, and back to Brissie. The flight into CHC arrives about 45 minutes before the flight back out. Is this cutting it too fine? Could I get boarding passes from Brissie to just go direct to the gate in Christchurch?

Hand luggage only and fit ( for an old guy ).

Last time I went through CHC it doesn’t have transit facilities so you will need to go through immigration and customs then back through again. Not enough time to my mind

Good day everyone, I hope everyone is well.

Mrs NISHO is short of QF Gold by a mere 80 SC and has decided she wants to move up a tier since she has found herself so close.
So, here is the scenario:

Her home port is CFS, and ideally the SC run would be done over the weekend, or the Monday (she could call in sick). She finishes work on Saturday at 1200, so I suppose that limits our options. OOL is three hours away and if it cost effective we would be happy to drive over there to position ourselves for an evening departure on the Saturday/early morning Sunday flight(s). I am based in QLD so accommodation is not an issue.

Preferred costs would obviously be as low as possible. She currently has 620 SC, with about 50 of this from UL and 200 from the DSC offer earlier this year. ~ has been achieved. Membership year ends 31/12/18.

Any suggestions welcome!

Long time reader, but now more confused than ever to gain another 200 status credits to retain gold with Qantas.

I am ready to give in, and need some advise and assistance how to retain Gold, without flying more than 7 or so hours from Sydney before April 2019. We are going to the USA at Christmas flying Cathay using FF Points

I see the most cost effective option is to Bali, and would stay around 5-7 days for around $4200.00 return for two

Can someone offer any other suggestions, which would be appreciated greatly or direct me to a travel agent (I normally book my own flights) that could assist.

Only just saw this (but was aware of the deal anyway) - only earns 120 TP under BAEC and flights seem to be ex-LGW only which isn't a problem though.

travel agent. I just did mine last Saturday MEL-BNE-NOU and back. The transit in NOU is very well organised. Well worth it if you are short of SCs and have a day off to do it.

I had thought about a status run while in the states, but don't really have enough time to do so, while spending most of our time in Los Angeles and Alaska (Alaska Air does not provide SC).

I only need 600 to retain gold, and I will take the bonus status credit into account when looking for flights - 1700$ is a great price, I don't see any such bargains at the moment.. PB

Right - my mistake. So you have 400 SC at the moment, how many of these are on QF/JQ? I only ask as 150 SC on QF + the loyalty bonus would see you make 600 SC.

If you fly xMEL you'd get 320SC. If this would be enough to unlock the loyalty bonus, I'd suggest postponing the flights til next year so you can get a 50 SC head start into 2019-2020.

I need to earn around 600 status credits to retain platinum so happy to do a route that will get me something around that. Of course 920 would be amazing but hoping to do it a tad cheaper

Do the SYD-xMEL-DPS component in flex Y instead of J. QF flights will net 320 SC under DSC + 280 SC on the MH J flights = 600 total.

Should come in around 2k. You'll need to wait for an MH sale to book that part, but they come around fairly regularly.
