Same as above, DPS-KUL-BWN on MH in business (Z)

Apologies for hijacking this thread, however which city generally has the cheapest fares to MNL using MH J specials? I booked a cheap QR J fare to Europe for late April/ early May and I need to position to MNL, and I am looking at either using points or a cheap Y fare to Asia (say HKG?) and then connect to MH to earn some additional SCs...

Thanks in advance!

Sounds good. Just found BWN as another option for a bit less $ and 240SC - but have not been to Brunei at all so not sure what to expect...
Yes BWN is another. Quite often they also have BKI and KUC aswell for similar prices.
All interesting places to spend some time

SIN quite often has sales under $1k return with MH in J

KUL-MNL return in MH J is currently on sale for $550 which comes with 160 SCs.

Help me out here please someone, where do I find the meaning for the acronyms mentioned here in posts, i.e which destination is MNL.

I'm seeing the QF points calc refusing to calc for various MH routes in business. PER-KUL for example, or KUL-CDG or FRA. What's the deal?

MH flights in business between Australia and Asia, and between Asia and Europe, earn at the economy rate.
MH is really only a worthwhile source of QF status credits for intra-Asian flights.

I would be travelling from Sydney. there are some deals in business class at around $3800-$4000 (one-way) but the $/SC is still quite high. So I am looking at earning more SC for the same $ or flying in F as suggested above ?

QR tends to have J deals if you go to ARN or OSL. The catch is just to check if the fare class is eligible for QF SCs which would beat a lower rate.

If you don't mind splurging, then EK on J could be a good option as you earn the same than flying QF J (of course if you book with a QF sharecode=. Even flying indirectly ex SYD-MEL-DXB-CDG.
Other way could be through AY. For instance SYD-SIN-HEL-CDG or do something with Japan Airlines. SYD-HND-CDG. If you can break up trip, you can do SYD-SIN or HND through QF then the remaining sector at a lower earning SC due to OW carrier SCs.

As per previous, Finnair is probably best SC / $ in J after QF. If they’re still on sale, you can do SYD-CDG for sub $6k return. CX is still in “early bird” mode with sub $6k fares (but less SCs).

AY have a sale on at the moment. But I think it ends soon. Look at connecting to AY via HKG, BKK or SIN with a QF flight out of Australia and into your port of choice.

AY are great value, excellent earn, fantastic product. Don’t overlook a stopover in Helsinki. Well worth a couple of days there unless it is the depths of their winter. And a Helsinki stopover can usually be included at no extra cost.
