I did multi city. I suspect I put in PER-MEL-SYD-CNS or possible PER-MEL-BNE-CNS.
I'll have to come back and try this another day. I seem to be encountering a whole raft of issues with the multicity booking engine, across browsers, even just simple two sectors in different segments. Probably a bigger issue as opposed to anything to do with the fares I'm searching.

So having some troubles booking multi city via AA.com. Probably a stupid question, but booking AA via Amex travel and then adding qff number will earn SC right?

I am planning to book a trip with my partner for the US next year (BNE-based). I'm new to the whole status run but would like to see if it's possible. Key cities that we definitely need to visit at this point is just San Fran and NYC.

I've read up on some of the pinned material and the wiki but there's a lot of information and that information might be old(?). Is there a more up-to-date guide on how best to plan my trip? Or if anyone knows a route (that includes SFO and NYC) that we could just copy?

Thanks

I found ITA matrix helpful when looking at complex US itineraries with stopovers, but so far haven't put Mrs excel (intentionally) through more than 3 sectors in a day. (Our ORD-LGA that got diverted via MCO was a nice earner though).

From what I recall the trick was adding on as many shorter routes as possible without the fare jumping to make the $/SC unrealistic. I haven't looked since AS joined the party - how do their fare buckets credit compared to AA on the QF earn tables?

From what I can see from the calculator, AS and AA appear to credit the same SCs but AA more points (as per the agreement).

I’ve been looking at fares for next year (we fly into SFO and out of LAX) and planning to visit SEA, NYC and possibly SAN. F fares are no longer the bargains they were pre-Covid ☹️

You can try to force a slightly convoluted booking by avoiding any airline hubs. So try for BOS instead of NYC, or LAS instead of SFO for example.

Wondering if BWI or DCA works also? At least there‘s the train up to NYC.

I know there aren't any DSC offers on at the moment but, from past experience, does anyone know if the SCs that you get for a Points Club Classic Reward booking also get DSCs or is it just revenue flights?

At this point I wouldn’t expect any further DSC offers till next calendar year after the school holidays. There could be one sometime February to April.
During the last DSC offer, I booked return flights to New Zealand in early March. That was the final date for the promotion, which might be indicative.

Just wondering if there is any direction how to pick a fun status run. No particular holiday destination. Happy to see new airports etc.
Dithering about LTG. Thought this might be fun for when a possible DSC comes out
Otherwise it would be New Zealand in business class a few times. I am in Sydney

For me it's about getting a holiday out of it, so try somewhere new, don't just fly around and spend some time at the destination. When I flew to KTM using MH J that was a good example. I appreciate those days of MH fares are gone though and the earning with QFF isn't great anyway. How many SC do you need?

I don't mind just having a flight actually. Maybe a few hours to meander out. Kinda not needing as such. I want to add to LTG (I think)
Maybe somewhere different.lol I am only just pondering having this. Husband only retired in Mid 2019 so I now can just go places and not have to co ordinate with him lol

If you have the time, positioning yourself outside Oz and then picking cheaper J fares is worth investigating. As per my comment on your PE thread, AY, QR have deals out of Asia (BKK, SIN etc) to Europe. If CX get back to some sort of normal, also regional options with them. Maybe also JAL and MH intra Asia.

If you go to the USA, there‘s still some reasonable status runs if you hub through ORD/DFW etc. Need to look both on AS and AA now.

Hopefully a QF DSC offer is coming in the New Year, that would make the NZ trips a bit more attractive.

They sound like fun ideas. My USA does tend to catch up with a close family friend and her availability. So going to Europe or Asia would be something fun to do

There used to be a UL fare ex-CMB to CHC via AU, return J for AU$2500, which will give at least 700SC during DSC ... not sure if that route is still operating given the unrest in Sri Lanka.

QF codeshare? Otherwise DSC wouldn’t be in play ☹️
