Flex economy
Not disagreeing with you, but both JQ and QF staff insist that it will credit as business instead.

Have you taken a JQ flight that got credited as flex economy? I haven’t, so I’m just working off what the (usually incorrect) customer support have said.

I’ve flown once on JQ Business Max going SYD-BNE-NRT on the same (one way) ticket.
The SYD-BNE leg was considered Starter Max (as no Business cabin on an A321) so credited as Flex Economy (20 SCs).
BNE-NRT (on a B789) credited as Business (125 SCs).

On the topic of customer support, regarding accessing the QF intl lounge at BNE on the basis of only the Business Max ticket - the answer was no access (was QFF Silver at the time). The CSR I asked via FB Messenger gave me a different answer. Ended up using a lounge invite to get in.

Cool, thanks for the confirmation! That makes the most sense to me, and it’s hilarious how the CSRs insist on things that are not correct.

I’d much rather they respond with a “I’m not sure” rather than a definite answer (that’s wrong).

The issue with OW partners, as a general rule, is that if they fly on the same route as QF, your QFF earn rate on the competing sector will be dramatically reduced.
Ouch ! Because I am looking to do a small Status run while located in Central Europe. (Berlin) how can this best be accomplished (before the end of February) looking to gain an additional 180 QF SC any suggestions mighty appreciated

Flying around Europe, it’s less of an issue.

If you’re able to fly J, that shouldn’t be too hard flying out of BER. Look at options on BA via LON (LHR,LGW,LCY), AY via HEL and IB via MAD. Further afield QR via DOH, AA has flights via LHR etc. Maybe check out AT or RJ has to offer?

You’re actually spoilt for choice. The challenge will be finding a decent fare so close to flying.

Use Google flights or ITA Matrix. Filter on oneworld flights only and throw in a bunch of destinations to see what might be on sale.

I got a good deal on BER to LHR on BA Business. Certain times the flight loads are empty

Has anyone recently (last 3 weeks?) completed their DSC run?
Just wondering how long the bonus SC are taking to hit accounts.

Wed/thu (overnight) flight, land on Sunday. Monday flights land Tuesday.

This has been the pattern for me for the last 4 months.

Has this happened to anyone of you before?

I'm doing a status run syd-mel-akl-mel-syd.

I did the syd-mel flight but from that point onwards, all my flights got cancelled even the return flight.
They are putting me in a hotel and find me other flights but at this point I would prefer to come back to Sydney.

Can we get a full refund and get the DSC at the same time?
Or should I continue with the experience to get the SC?

If your at the ParkRoyal, come to L5 & have a drink with me😎🍻

I started work at 4am today. I'll just finish this thing at check in counter and I'll go collapse in my bed but thanks for the offer!

Were you also on QF157? 😆
The staff said they was an issue with the plane they couldn't repair.

Yes, I’m on 402 to SYD, then 143 to AKL, & back to BNE on 126 tomorrow😱 long day ahead😎🥳🍻

Ouch.

You can likely get a refund, nut no fly, no SC let alone DSC.

You could TRY a claim for ORC based on the unusual circumstance, but if you get a part refund of unused sectors then that would be rather difficult I think.

To ensure the max SCs using ORC, I’d probably push for SYD-MEL-AKL-SYD.

Hoping someone can assist with a couple of question re: an involuntary reroute on DSC booking.

Background
In the March 23 DSC offer I booked BNExMEL-OOL return in J for travel in Feb 2024.

Charged 2x41,500 points (83,000 total) plus taxes as expected. So far so good.

In August, I was emailed about a schedule change.

I took no action so that I could potentially cancel without penalty if I requalified as WP and didn't need the status run.

However, in September the ticket was reissued as BNExSYD-OOL return, but the first sector was more than a week before the other flights 🤷‍♂️

I called today to sort this out and the agent (I believe HBA) claimed I'd called in Sept and she could see the ID of her colleague who had changed the booking and reissued.

Weird because I never called about this booking and my phone shows I made no calls at all on the day claimed by the agent.

In the end she changed the flight but would only allow me a BNE-SYD with U availability.

Questions

Q1. Is this likely to be a problem if I try to claim ORC if QF claims I accepted a change in Sept, thus today's change was not invol.?

Q2. For an involuntary reroute like this, shouldn't points be recalculated to the shorter route (ie 2x 27,600 points = 55,200). In other, words a points refund of 27,800? This didn't happen in Sept or today.

Q3. If I call again to request the points be repriced... might that jeopardise my ability to claim ORC?

Answering all questions in one. It is an involuntary rerouting as your itinerary was changed by them and not initiated by you, even if you agreed to proposed changes by them. Now for the cost. I've never asked for a partial refund for an invol rerouting and see the "extra" cost as the opportunity cost for getting the "extra" points/SC. Now you COULD ask for a repricing but I suspect that this would void any involuntary rerouting claim as you did not pay any opportunity cost. I don't know if others have had success having this cake and eating it too. Cost vs Benefit of this is entirely your judgement call to make. At the end of the day, which do you value more at this moment? The SC or the points/taxes?
