Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Why, double discount Y is not the same as J for what is effectively the same fare!

Ah I see, I was thinking that J was sold on the codeshare which by the sounds of it is not the case. Also explains why the TW QF sh!ts itself if you search for J...

Pretty hard to go past J with CX for the money, especially with the bonus SC for the HKG diversion.

Indeed and normally that would be my first choice but I was mulling over pushing for WP with the dbl scs...

Incidentally TPE-HKG-SYD is on sale at present for around $15k HKD at present which is essentially PE for the price of J :)

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Regarding the ex TPE options - does anyone know how to book the QF codeshare on BR which operates TPE-BNE-SYD on Fridays?

The only place I've been able to find it online is with edreams at astronomical prices.

(Also, if the QF code is ticketed would this attract double status credits? :))

I actually called the QF platinum desk about this one a few months ago. As I would enjoy TPE-BNE-PER better then TPE-HKG-PER, they would sell it to me at $8k AU with QF codes. I informed them they they are out of step with CX and MH by about 400%. Care-factor was 0

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I thought it was hilarious that we are in the QP now and the OH finally says "I can't wait until you do your status run on the 20th, it is really crowded here and the J lounge would be so much nicer!"

The penny has dropped!

Now I need to plan a status run that will net me about 1000 points as I'm only doing award flights on my longer trips next year...without a double SC offer that will take a bit of planning.

If you are going to the USA on any of your trips it's pretty easy to get 1000 SC's on AA

I know, unfortunately no current plans to get there- but who knows? Anyway almost as easy to get 1400scs as 1200 so there's alway the year after - or decade after

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Does anyone have any suggestions for the best status run to get 140 SC by end of September (ex SYD)?

I don't have the double SC promo.

Best I can see right now is SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD for 48k points + $265 cash providing 200SC

Appreciate any thoughts.

Cheers

Where do you live?

If SYD, then get to CBR and fly CBR-xSYD-HBA for $130 & 16k QFF points. Book the reverse to double that.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Serfty - I live in Sydney.

Interested to see the rest of your response (looks like it got cut off!)

Cheers

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I've fixed the post - other than that, see post #1 of this thread. (It has increased in price due to Carbon Tax levy and Fuel fine increases)

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Thanks Serfty - assume you are talking about a JASA here?

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

You can also do a day trip to Mount Isa (ISA) for a bit more: SYD-xBNE-ISA-xBNE-SYD = 48k + $297 for 200 SC

Or, if you want the full 240 SCs and don't mind a red-eye then you should find a weekend option to KTA: SYD-xPER-KTA-xPER-SYD = 72k + $344 for 280 SC

If you prefer using points to cash then Alice Springs via Melbourne: SYD-xMEL-ASP-xMEL-SYD = 72k + $161 for 200 SC

Bit of overkill considering the OP needs 140 SC, now if they were to plan a SYD-PER-KTA on Sept 30 returning Oct 1, that would be a good use !

The LAN discount business class return fare SYD-AKL is still pretty good value if you want to save your FF points and just use cash. That will earn you 160 SCs for just $748.

You're right, I misread it as 240 SC needed

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Thanks for the Double SC offer - it's sure a ncice feeling to see those extra 260 SC's appear on your activity statement - did the travel on a JASA on Saturday and the double SC's just posted to my account now - Platinum here I come!
