Disgusting treatment of facilities by J PAX in Melbourne

A little consideration and understanding of what communal space is would be a good start. Just like the guys at the gym leaving clothes lying around on the change room floor instead of in a locker, as if it were their own bedroom floor at home. One year of compulsory boarding school during secondary school education ought to address the issue; living with 60 other boarders you soon learn to pick up after yourself, return the newspaper, arrive on time, get along well with others, be polite in public and pull your socks up!

Depending on the traffic load , that looks pretty standard to me. The QP is ( in my experience) Usually a much tidier place in quiet times. Must say BNE lounge has never ( seen by me) been that bad, and the BNE (intl) J lounge is generally very neat and tidy, being from quiet BNE is sometimes an advantage I think.

It is I, Leclerc !

I disagree with the summations of who might have done it and the FF status being the decider.

Perhaps it might be more appropriate to guess the age of the person rather than their status and whether they were families with children.

My mother beat manners into me when I was a child ( many years ago) but today no one of a certain age seems to have much regard for other people now and don't seem to be taught it anymore being more concerned about their own rights rather than obligations.

I'll wait for the angry responses !!

It looks like the floor of the j cabin after a long haul fflight when me as a y pax has to walk thru it when exiting. Just missing the pillows and blankets :p

It is usually quite tidy on most of my SQ flights.. guess there could be a difference between airlines though

Maybe your generation got taught manners, but not hygiene. Constantly see the 50+ gents leaving the J Lounge bathroom sans hand washing..... then fist deep into the liquorice allsorts.
:P

ps..... just took a wild punt at your age - happy to re-post something more relevant if I'm way off.
:D

Would beg to differ Muppet ....one goes with the other from my personal experience.

Never experienced the liquorice allsorts so I'll check them out next time but will take on board your observations and pass in case the ferals leaving the mess have got to them first !

At the end of the day the OP is right there is no excuse to leave the place in a mess simply because someone else will clean it up. Total lack of respect for the next person !

I actually think the age is irrelevant to the discussion and I've never seen people (of any age) fist deep into the liquorice allsorts.

totally agreed

At the end of the day it is always nice to have civilised discourse when everyone agrees with what is at the core of the issue !!

I am now going to re-open this thread for the time being. We have taken some action which I'm hoping will improve the quality of the discussion on this thread. Lets keep thing civil and on-topic.

There is another way to view this: and that is to have some sympathy for the folk who made the mess. Often people who behave poorly towards others are suffering from low levels of oxytocin. Basically, they are probably unhappy. Like the anecodote about the WP1 who (allegedy) dropped some toast and expressed a pompous attitude, money/status/age is no indicator of happiness or satisfaction. This has been demonstrated repeatedly. You likely won't be any happier at WP1 than you are at WP, in fact you may be less so given your increased expectations which are increasingly all the harder to meet. Murphy's law of diminishing returns simply means you spend 80% of your time attempting to satisfy 20% of your clientele in a zero-sum game of incentivised deliverables.

Sometimes I think the only people in the world who truly understand this are myself, and Alan Joyce.

Today, wife and I went into QF Business lounge prior to our 1515 boarding for 444 to SYD.

We went over to a free table near the window, dumped our luggage and headed for a drink. I was disgusted at the way one of the seating areas had been left by people who had just vacated - anyone following me on twit would know my explicits expressed would cost me another holiday on AFF if used here.

I cannot believe people can be absolute PIGS and on top of this, many of the litter items looked like the sticky bits from bandaids!

Totally unacceptable in my opinion.

The lounge cleaner came by and cleaned down the table, and as we were leaving, there were cleaners entering who headed in the general direction.
I agree with you, it is a mess, but if they had already left, how is one able to pass judgement on the reasons why it was left in such a state? Plenty of reasons

I would make a brash statement that this mess would not have been made by a OWE guest - I would hazard to say this is a points J or similar flyer - a OWE would respect the inner sanctum.
Drawing a long bow there munitalP. Did you see their boarding passes?

IMHO this is as good an excuse needed to make this an OWE lounge only
How will that change the circumstances of the Lounge - as others have said, I too have been in plenty of clients houses who are middle to high income earners, do a lot of flying, are OWE or CL, but their cleaniless habits are different to mine. Who am I to pass snap judgements when there may be extenuating circumstances? One hot day does not make a summer...as I sometimes have left my table less than pristine, or with not all the food eaten, because of a need to toilet prior to flight (must hav been those beers :D), or hear the Final Call (or worst still, the "Will the last remaining pax, Mr Wilson, travelling to....you are the last remaining pax to board, your plane is ready for immediate departure) :( :o

Each to their own opinion and I for one, must respect your opinion (but I can disagree with it, nicely of course).

On a slightly different topic, but probably linked, I am sitting in the QP in Townsville. The lounge is about half full and the vast majority of pax are dressed in what is euphemistically described as smart casual, business flyers I suppose , in the main.
There one or two ( not in hi viz) but turned out in what can only be described as dressed down beach wear.
I thought there was a dress standard ( the whole hi Viz thread not withstanding) I don't expect we all dress in suit and tie (particularly in NQ) but heck even shorts and sleeves can look good, but singlets and thongs !!!
Maybe I am getting old,
BTW looks like no real mess's left here today !

So what is the issue, if the people are clean and behaving appropriately?
