Domestic JASA's return - SC's Only

Anyone know if this "award points earns SC deal" can also be used alongside the 50% SC promotion as well ?
Would be interesting if the best of both worlds applies...

Should be you need to read the terms closely. Look for a restriction to not being useable with multiple promos.

Haven't received an offer.

Currently WP and will not requalify this year, but have several hundred thousand points to burn.

2 JASA coming up - points to burn and no offer -anyone receive this after the initial mail out- I live in hope

Ok, I'll bite QF... I received this offer and have priced a return SYD-SIN classic for the family (2+1).

Totals shown: as reward seats it will cost 180,000 pts plus $1350 in fines and earn 60 SC p/p and no points. Revenue seat costs $1750 and will earn 60 SC p/p and 10,000 pts p/p (direct from QF) and 4,500 pts via credit card.

So, in summary, the 'reward' is that at a cost of 215,000 pts (180k + 3 x 10k + 5k potential earn) buying a reward seat will save me $400. Or, put another way, doing this will cost me about 535 points per dollar. Which is only slightly better than buying the ticket as a P+P, which will cost 309,000 pts and drop the spend to $0.00.

It gets worse if you consider a J reward, fines are higher and SC earn is the same (or non-existent if I read the T&C correctly).

Thanks QF, but no thanks - even buying a toaster would be a better way to spend my points.... and that is saying something.

Its been widely known for a long time that classic international economy awards are very poor value. Nothing new

True. I guess what I hoped to add in this thread was that a paltry amount of SCs available in this offer would not be enough to lure me because the value is so poor.

In other words, one might be tempted to burn pts on a mASA, but this offer is in no way a substitute for enhancing the mASA.

I wonder though if QF really care?
I can't know what non AFFr's think of the offer. But if my own experience is anything to go on, pre AFF I would possibly have thought it's a good deal. So there are probably plenty of points accumulators out there who will blow their points without a second thought. All good news for QF. I will re qual WP by August. But will plummet after that. Maybe gold. So pointless promotions like this hold little interest for me

I'm in points burn down mode at the minute, and booking J dom seats anyway, so I guess it's better than nothing.

Sorry if somebody asked but I did have a quick look through. Do you get SCs for international J? Just at Y earn?

I have a RTW to book so might be worthwhile.

edit: I can see somebody has mentioned J doesn't earn at all.

I don't think it earns anything. Can't see the point actually.

With too many points out there, it's easy to see a situation where an inflationary effect will take hold. I.e. No availability of award seats and regular changes to the scheme that devalue the points. Oh wait - we've never seen that happen a zillion times already have we?!!!

Theres very little QF can do to reduce the number of points out there other than release more award seats (which theyll never do). Devaluing the points tables wont make any difference if people cant use their points!

Most people I know outside this community of course use their points at the Qantas store!

Hopefully they'll get encouraged to do this instead of using them for seats, thus making more seats for the enlightened more available?

Sorry - this is a double post as I was in wrong thread I think. I have tried several times today to even just have a look at what was available using the register now link and just did not work. Tried several browsers and nothing happened.
Getting a bit late now I guess. Can only hope I get a similar offer maybe later in year - and better still if it was for full sc for class booked!

I registered for this offer in April and booked 3 domestic J flights in two PNRs. All flights credited over 6 weeks ago with 0 status credits. They were SYD/MEL and vv sectors but I believe they should have earned SCs at flexible economy rate (ie 20 SCs per flight). I emailed frequent flyer 2 weeks ago, received automated response but nothing since. Will leave it another week or so and email again. If that fails, I will call when I'm back in Oz next month. Has this happened to anyone else?

Didn't take up this offer personally but recent 50% bonus SC offer needed a couple of calls to fix things up. Didn't take long but annoying that the onus is on the customer to chase.

If you fail to get traction with QFF, send a PM to Red Roo. They are pretty good at following up this sort of thing.
