It was there last Thursday. I suppose that is in the past

I was there last week twice and only saw people eating on the island table, but the Island Dining Menus etc seemed to be missing. I didn't ask but looked for it a couple of times. Do you know if they still have the Island Dining Menu?

Didn't see it today either, just the table. with the napkins and knives and forks... but no 'meal of the day' menus

Yep the menu was there last week, they come out at about 6 pm.

Name one other minority in terms on curry consumption that is greater than 20%. I'll say it again 20% is a large minority in terms of national curry consumption behaviour. One fifth of the worlds population is a large sub-group even if still in the minority! It is laughable that anyone can think this is a small minority.
Comparing curry to non-curry with the example just used is 80%-20% so yes 20% is a small minority.

I am not an expert but what % of "Australians" eat curry regularly in Australia? And would you eat it everyday? Once a week? Once a month?

What is laughable is having the likes of butter chicken and other curries for days on end with no other hot meal choice. We have such a diverse range of people and an airline sees fit to serve curry everyday!

Anyway enough said as my flame proof vest is no longer working. Talk about attacking the argument not the poster.

And for what it is worth there was some sort of chicken with vegetables and black bean sauce yesterday and special eggplant, which was the same as Friday. Much better than dry curry....

Sure 20% is small compared to 80% but that 80% is a majority not minority. So no it is not a small minority. Besides the non curry eaters is not 80%. What about Thailand, what about the rest of the sub-continent? and yes, what about the Australians who enjoy curry? Australians who eat curry would be a small minority of the worlds population. One fifth of the world's population is not a small minority. Of the other (potential maximum) 29% in the minority is there any other grouping that would be greater than 20%? Probably not, IMO and hence that then represents the largest minority grouping. BTW this is about the argument not about you.

Now if it was about you I would ask if you are at the lounge literal everyday or if it is just a coincidence that they have curry everytime you are there. But I'm not asking that as it is basically irrelevant.

Anyway, I had the chicken, vege black bean thing today. Far to soupy for my liking but acceptable for lunch.

Party pies (chicken & leek, or beef) often served in Syd QP and J around 5:00PM along with a yummy ciabata bread with sundried tomato, eggplant etc in J lounge (not QP)

Thanks, must be a Syd thing then - never seen them in the Mel QP/J Lounge :(

Small data point.

Population of India plus the population of Pakistan (which was partitioned from India in 1947) is just on 20% of the world population. A little more than a small minority.

On reflection my wording was poor. We are in agreement with this. I meant 20% is considerably more than a small minority.

John,

The 20% represents the population of just 2 countries. When you add the others that like curry regularly and those who eat curry even if not so regularly the numbers a considerably higher.

IMHO we are having a health disagreement and no one is 'now' attacking the poster although there was a little of that earlier.

In any case maybe it is time that we all drift back toward the topic as we have drifting away for a while now.

At least someone is listening.

Finally some real food in the BNE Business Lounge. Puttanesca pasta on offer for lunch although when I first looked at the description I had to laugh as a similar word in Greek has a totally different meaning! ;)

Don't know what it implies in Greek but could well be similar to the Italian. ;)

Oh don't worry, in Italian it's the same.

Where do you think the name spaghetti alla puttanesca came from? :)

In the SYD Business lounge now and guess what?

No curry and no indian food! :D

Pale ale beef casserole with couscous and something else. I just had the pale ale beef casserole and it was just lovely.

At least someone is listening and hopefully curry is off the rotation for a long long time. :p

Have been very impressed with the hot food in J lounges lately.

The NP duck and foie gras pie in CBR a few weeks ago was a stand out! The spicy pork belly makes a show occassionally , but it is probably not too good for the waistline ;) hmmmm.. come to think of it have only seen this these in CBR maybe when CL is empty they off load the food into the J lounge!

Yep, those duck pies were awesome. I ate three!

More than 7 weeks after this post and I have not seen curry in any of the lounges or in the air.

All I can say is "Thank GOD and he must be listening"....

If we dont mind getting back OT for a minute, sorry to divert away from the curry story :) Got myself an upgrade on a cheap qf flight out of cbr, so I will get to experience the business lounge...any one been there. Being a dj regular, i have not experienced the qp at all.. Any comparisons between the lounge vs qp vs business lounge...
Please feel free to comment before returning back to the ongoing curry debate.:)

the CBR J lounge is the same as the SYD one. the view isn't as good as the QP though..

Yes, the view from the CBR DJ lounge is nicer, but in every other way, the QF J lounge is better - particularly for food and drink. If you're flying at peak time tonight another bonus to the QF lounge is you will get a seat.

Will I be able to access the J domestic lounge in SYD more than 3 hours before my flight?

Are the shower facilities any good?

What food options are there around lunchtime?

1 - Yes. You could walk in at 9AM for a 6PM flight if you wanted.

2 - No idea

3 - Generally a soup, salads, meats and cheeses and a hot option
