I'm going all out with my requests for amex to extend.
Asked Steve Hui from iflyflat to ask him amex contacts, have also asked my contact at bluechain to ask their amex rep.. lets see haha

i doubt they will... there's no way they could get 4.5% through interchange fees so they are losing money effectively

But they have halted a lot of other perks which I'm sure they would be saving money on??

Spoke to my Amex Relationship Manager today. They have not heard of an extension. The decision is not one made locally ie Amex Australia may have no input regarding this.

Probably been said somewhere upstream from memory, maybe even by me (?), but I see the whole promotion as a way to try and convince people to keep their cards and give them a fall-back when people ask for fee reductions

Very true. I'm not cancelling.
This promo with the $400 back in groceries has easily helped me plenty of $

Ditto double points and groceries promos have hit the mark with me. Hoping double points can be extended but assuming it’s not going to be.

Find that hard to believe lol. More like it's up to them to put it forward to head office overseas for consideration and I doubt they would be awfully concerned how our little island operate in the scheme of things 😂

Thanks for posting this. I asked my RM yesterday about that. She reckons that charge has to post rather than be made by 20th to qualify for double points. I’m thinking it just needs to be made so will wait to hear from you. I know points post when charge posts so we might miss out on the redemption offer.

RM also said there were some other initiatives Amex is considering but wasn’t able to elaborate.

Given Amex have provided some significant benefits already, at the risk of sounding greedy, I hope Amex extends the double points promo, preferably until the end of the year. I don't think standard perks of the card will be able to be utilised in a meaningful way this year anyway.

Your mouth to god’s ears. It’s a great make up benefit. I hope they extend it.

I’d still be keen to get clear on whether thedouble points apply whether the transaction posts by 20th or is merely charged by 20th. I imagine ifBryce points don’t post by 20th we just can’t use them to redeem for credit at the higher rate.

I made all large purchases by yesterday to prevent this dilemma

suggest today latest as points normally clear today by Saturday

Are everyone going to redeem their points prior to the 20/07 deadline for the double redemption benefit?

Normally I save the points for transfer to Airlines and hotels, but who knows when the world will go back to normal, and felt it might be best to just spend it to pay the card balance while the double redemption promo is available.

I will be using them for award flights, but each to own.

Was chatting with my wife about it, we have 310k USA MR, 550K Kris Flyer and 600k Chase Ultimate Rewards, 500 k Qantas and about 580k American. Only 136k AUS MR. We are cashing out for this promo

We are in the same boat glasszon.

I reconciled the additional points earnt under this promotion yesterday. It came to around $8k worth of points after fees from 'special' spending for Mrs Mac and I, which I have put towards the balance - certainly takes the sting out of most likely wasting 2 years of travel credits. The additional points from normal spending are still with us. No decision yet on converting the rest of the balance to cash, it's likely we will do some and leave some, as we'll have a decent amount of time to rebuild. Interested to hear what others think
