Double Points and DSC [Book by 8/9/17, fly by 6/9/18]

I didn't receive double SCs on a voucher purchased within the last period, so I wouldn't count on vouchers working. Was only 40SCs which in my current year means nothing so haven't bothered to chase.

Still, little to lose purchasing a voucher.

FWIW I had DSCs credited this morning from flights taken last Thursday, which were purchased in early August using vouchers from the March DSC promotion.

This is very very strange.

Pointhacks are providing a link, which one would assume means it is generic/global sign up.

https://www.pointhacks.com.au/qantas-bonus-point-offers/

https://www.qantas.com/fflyer/dyn/memberSpecials/double-points-sc-QF-EK-email

However there is no where to enter your email so even though it says registration confirmation... It obviously is not.

Offer 2 relating to DSC has no link. The only link is offer 1 the EK Europe points promotion.

Got my hopes up.

The actual link in the email looks like this (which will track each individual's clicks):

Code:
http://loyalty.qantas.com/re?l=<long string of letters and numbers as an ID>

Which re-directs to a link like this:

Code:
https://www.qantas.com/fflyer/dyn/memberSpecials/double-points-sc-QF-EK-email?alt_cam=au:ff:in:edm:ff:double-points-offer-au-sub_20170904:register-button:n:n:n

This link appears to not have any identifying information in it, but instead just a query string at the end of the URL stating that the click-through came from the EDM (email direct marketing) and that the "Register Button" was clicked. It would then hazard a guess that the unique URL in the email is what is needed, meaning that if you didn't get the email then you're unable to utilise/take up this offer of DSC.

Maybe it does if you are logged in when trying? Take a screenshot of it all. Who knows if it works.

Yes, this is disappointing, but that's why each time you do get a DSC offer it's important to make good use of it, so if you don't get another one for a while it doesn't make much difference.

Sadly I don't think so. However I have taken a screenshot.

I suspect it is targeted with a unique URL also.

No big deal I only have small trips coming up anyways.

I will try. Need to book a flight for next week anyway.

The T&Cs clearly state that it's only for those who got the email. I just did what you suggested for myself and a few others who didn't get the email but I doubt that will work.

Qantas doesn't want any marginal Platinum Ones?

Of course not.. but this P1 got it.

I still feel it is bad that the confirmation page is very generic - there's no proof by name or number it's registered to a specific person.. and I at least got no email to confirm this (unlike the last DSC offer). very annoying if one wanted to try to prove it.

The thought I have is that QF knows who it has targeted, so it's all supposed to work within QF... as in if your QFF# isn't "on the list" you won't get it. Of course... work experience kids may still be in the building...

That's a whole lotta dots that need to be connected.

Well you did say recently that you flew QF for the first time in 6 months, I think. Maybe your flying patterns fit the profile they were looking for to encourage additional bookings?

Then there are people lwho are flying relatively regularly and got the offer...

True(good memory), but I also had a number of forward bookings also.. so it's not like it seemed like I'd never fly QF again.

Also anyone with half a brain actually looking at me specifically would work out I'm not the droid they're looking for given strangely enough I flew only one or two trips post requalifiying for P1, and then nothing until right after my year rolled over.... gee, I wonder why? :D

However, it's not about ME :D it is curious that it's hard to figure out just what the criteria seems to have been in selecting who gets the offer and who doesn't. Seems no obvious pattern, but then again previous targeted bonus SC offers haven't seemed to make much logical sense either.

Anyhoo still thinking about a LAX trip in December which I may or may not take up so never know.

I got the email...

Normally have 5-6 week RTW trip around Sep/Oct/Nov for last 6 years.
Last trip was 4 days in LA at start of July.
Just booked a week in Tokyo last week (had to book JAL as $1000 cheaper then QF and missed the QF Japan sale 2 weeks before).
Just sent RTW trip off to travel agent for costing.

Doubtful that I'll be able to get it ticketed during the short double SC offer booking period. :/

For anyone wondering why they didn't receive the DSC targeted offer (like me), I just realised on the bottom of my husbands email offer (he was lucky) in fine print it says:
You have received this email because you are subscribed to Qantas Frequent Flyer 'Flight specials, news and updates' emails. To unsubscribe from 'Flight specials, news and updates' emails only, click here

I checked my QFF mail subscription preferences and realised even though I'd ticked the box for 'Exclusive offers for Qantas Frequent Flyer Members', and all the other options, I didn't have "Flight specials, news and updates' checked. Bummer! Must have opted out at some stage, unwittingly.

Could this be the reason why?

Nope - I'm subscribed and nada for me.

I just registered my oh from the link in the email sent to him, did not ask me to register his FF number again and when I tried to do a dummy booking it would not allow me to bring up Melbourne as a departure point, seems a bit strange

I think trying to figure out how QF targets certain people is a sure-fire ticket to the nearest asylum. My guess, from the pax perspective at least, is it's pure luck. Combined with the timing of a DSC promo, you either get lucky (as I did last year) or wait out for the next one and hope you are in it and can make some bookings at the right time.

Of course there'll be some people who have resources (money and time) to jump on an offer whenever it hits, but that would be the minority I reckon.
