Double SC for all! (Book until midnight 6th Mar, Travel Mar 2017 - Feb 19, 2018)

So my issue is that I have received DSC for flights taken on Tuesday last week. Haven't received them for flights taken last Monday. Both flights were booked within 1/2 an hour of each other. Was in discussion with a QF agent on WP line today and informed me that I didn't qualify because flights were booked on the 1st March not the 2nd, which is when the DSC promotion started. Long story short, she found it was because of GMT not EST time. This meant that one booking was made at 11:45 pm on 1st March and the other (which I have been credited for) at 12:20 am on the 2nd March. I am awaiting a phone calll back tomorrow to see what happens. What a mess!

As with last year's offer it was best to wait for GMT time to tick over to the booking dates before booking. You'll be able to get the DSC but you could have to wait the 6 weeks.

I think that will be the result. However, is it that hard to have a computer system setup to allow for this? It's pretty pathetic really. I had (like 1000's of others) no idea that the promotion didn't allow for GMT. It said from 1200 am onwards.

Thanks, I suspected as much as the first thing I thought was GMT issue. Waiting 6 weeks is of no consequence to me I am already north of 4200SC with 4+ months to renewal. I only provided my experience to help out others who are looking to get, retain, make reward bookings or get a better chance of an upgrade by the end of Mar or Apr.

What was of more concern was the agent informing me was registration date was 7 Mar, as I registration confirmation via email dated 2 Mar 17 I suspect it will all work out.

Oh Really ?!

Yes. The link provided was to a comment by the authenticated Qantas company representative account on AFF (active then, not so much now).

I cannot say the staff member was the nicest I've dealt with, but would not expect him to have lied.

It's unlikely that he lied, it's far more likely he was just mistaken and provided incorrect information. That's common enough in customer service (receiving different or conflicting advice from different representatives) and particularly with nuanced queries about matters that they don't routinely deal with.

In such cases it pays to Hang Up And Call Again (also known as HUACA).

It was an instance where I definitely did not feel like a valued customer.

Rude or unprofessional customer service is another matter, not to mention call centre wait times ...

Re: Double status credits 2/3/17 - 6/3/17

I do not think any lying or deliberate misinformation was given. Inaccurate yes and that's sad but not delibverate. They've probably read the language of the T&C like we all have and taken it on face value - it specifically mentions "changes" and that's what they've honed in on. The confusion over this last year (and concern) was what lead, in part, Red Roo(RIP) to clarify the situation. The sad part is that QFF did not bother to change the wording to be more explicit (Cut and paste anyone?) and so, the wording is open to interpretation. Some agents clearly have taken it the wrong way (or the way it was not intended) and that, in my view, is QF Loyalty's bad because the wording is so poor.

It's a big leap to translate something like this with "lies" in my view. While obviously I did not hear the conversations or know the agents involved, given the wording of the promo and possible interpretations I do not think any kind of deliberate lying has gone on.

You would have hoped a clarification on the terms would have been sent internally to inform agents to be very clear, but perhaps it wasn't, or these couple of agents did not see or note it and got it wrong. Really bad yes... lies? fake news? not on purpose.. more "Alternative Facts" IMHO.

the sad result is this has affected some members making full use of both years promotions.

Morning all.
I have not received a call from QF yet. However, I logged into to my account this morning and 160 bonus SC's have been posted. No doubt, without my follow up phone calls, the result would have been different.
I am now a newly minted P1. :lol::lol:

A bit lowlier than you but as a first timer Platinum - I just became newly minted also and am very excited.

And so you should be. Platinum is well worth it I think. To be honest, I cannot remember what it was like as a Gold. Platinum is still a lot of flying and I hope you get to put it to very good use.

Okay my first double SC hit for the first leg of a day flight from 16 March. Interesting that the return flight that day didn't but maybe that's because the return leg posted on 17 March.

Still would have thought two flights on same day and booking would get DSC credited same day. I guess I should be happy they have started.

Just as a data point my return evening flight from 16 March got DSC credit today 21 March around 11 am. So my morning flight on 16 March received DSC credit 20 March around 4 pm.

Looks like daily processing jobs. Taking 5-6 days to credit DSC. As I have a MEL-BNE flight today I'll see if the 5-6 day rule stays.

Oh don't you worry. :p
Just updated all my seat selections for five flights in the next two weeks. And will be revisiting the F lounge in Dubai at the end of April.
MrP is LTG and WP but I don't always travel with him. He always gets the Yes Sir No Sir when he boards. My turn now.

The weird thing - my status credits have gone over 1400 now but the activity tracker hasn't changed since this morning. By Friday I would be there anyway but not exactly sure what's just happened.

imo the sweet spot for most people would be SG/WP. Sure the International Business Lounges in MEL & SYD could be a lot better but they still beat waiting near the gate and paying for food at the airport. The FLounges take the experience to another level.

The marginal benefits of P1 would be nice but they're not worth multiplying the amount of leisure travel I do. If you can get close with work & leisure travel you'd do anyway then it would be well worth it doing a run on DSC to get there.

You can get fortunate as a WP and get an op-up which'd normally go to a P1 or CL if you happen to be on a flight overbooked in economy where there are insufficient upgrade requests and few/no solo P1/CL passengers booked in economy on that flight. It happened to me with a flight from BNE to MEL just recently. If I'd been SG I reckon I would have had no chance of getting it.

If it weren't for DSC offers I'd probably only be going for SG not WP most of the time and QANTAS would get less cash from me as a result. Next year I might retain WP without needing any DSC, but DSC would sure help getting there quicker and with working towards LTG.

Mine posted in 4 days. In the afternoon.

Maybe I was comped? I was within 25 SC this morning and I can't see any additional SC's in my activity.
Oh wait, my bad. They popped something I had seen earlier on the first line and put an extra 80 status credits in I'd forgotten about. :o In my defence I also received a loyalty bonus of 50 SC last Friday. Its raining status credits on me currently.
