Double SC offer - question on existing bookings

The Qantas SC fairy has visited with a double SC offer for me between now and 31 March which is great as I will make WP. My question is that I have some bookings already including a couple of JASA for this period but the email states that the offer is for new bookings and flights: [TABLE="width: 572"]

Does this mean (as it sounds) that my existing bookings will not qualify? If not I might look at cancelling one or more and rebooking.

It usually applies to new bookings only.

Interestingly, I just got the same offer (first time I have received one!!!) and my requalifying date is 31 March. Will have to start planning a couple of status credit runs!

I'd suggest you ring Qantas and ask if it could be applied to your existing booking. I once received a double points offer just after I had booked a J return to PER-SYD so you can just imagine that my heart sunk when I thought that I had missed out. So I rang and explained that I had made a booking just before and the lady agreed to "add a note" to the booking to explain the sequence of events so that it would be eligible. Now admittedly in my case there was only a number of hours between booking and offer, but the principle of having a preceding booking count is the same. Worth a try I reckon.

You need to keep in mind that you need new PNR's (except in the case of vouchers bought solely as vouchers.

So if you cancel a flight and receive a credit with the original PNR, and then rebook, it still wont count as they already have your money. You will need a completely new booking (and PNR) or to use a gift voucher you bought over christmas.

Thanks for the information - I have a new gift voucher that I can use - also possibly a work trip to CNS (Y class but good SCs) in February.

It means what it says - they apply to NEW bookings - I got caught last year with this - existing bookings don't count. I tried pleading my case but got no where - give it a go but don't hold your breath

Absolutely. A quick call to voice your concern costs next to nothing and if successful will save you the time and effort (and $$$!!!) of cancelling and re booking.

WHEN DO THE BONUS SC's post ??

I got the same offer for period prior to 31st December and was 10 SC short for WP.

My wife and I both did a run MEL-ADE on 31st December. The normal SC's posted but not the Bonus SC's.

We made WP and I don't mind if the Bonus SC's post in my new year commencing 1st January but do I need to chase them ???

I think it can take as long as 6 weeks, but will have said in the T&C's. Any credits that post late will apply to when the flight was taken, in your case the previous membership year. I'd give it a week or so before calling.

JASAs are often fully refundable so you could just cancel those and rebook.

Mr Pippy is doing a double SC trip for gold only a few days before his renewal date end of Jan. If his SC's post into his new year it will be a disaster.
