Seems a bit pointless. You book a flight and with lockdowns you end up with even more added to your travelbank.

VA is nowhere near as good as it once was, no international redemptions available, no 330 coast to coast, business class meals have gone downhill, lounges are inferior etc.

I wonder what % have moved their flying to QF (or are planning to once travel opens up).

I’ve sidelined any domestic flights at all until March. Who knows what the next half year brings however I know it’s just a matter of when for the next lockdown.

Business class meals are as good as they were and in a lot of cases better than QF. I'll agree that some lounges aren't as good as QF, but they're certainly not inferior. I'm a VA Gold FF and have no intention of choosing QF over VA.

I had to cancel BNE-HBA flights today that I was meant to be taking on Friday, so this is a nice buffer because I can rebook and get DSC's.

Very happy with this. Will still be able to get some use out of it. I’ve already requalified for Plat but wife is a couple SC’s short

Yes, I’m well aware of it. We have done it in the past as I often requalify within 2-3 months.
Im looking to have enough to gift Platinum to my father as a birthday present and my wife can retain Platinum off her own steam this year

I agree with you somewhat. Yes, international network is absymal, no a330, however I think the domestic business meals are *nearly as good as pre-covid, just without better wines and white linen, however I'll trade that for exclusive use of j class toilets and a smaller j cabin compared to QF and also the fare being hundreds of $$$ less. VA lounges have resembled an old kmart cafeteria of late however I was in Adelaide the other week and was really impressed with their F&B offering. If they keep this up and extend to the other capital city lounges it will eclipse the QF club offering of a stale bun with processed cheese and ham.

Spot on, ADL VA lounge is very impressive.

Anyway I took up this DSC already, canceled a family trip in Oct & made fresh cash booking cos wasn't sure if future flight credits would be valid, you know with old dates & whatever.
Easy to use credit voucher later.

Got a year to book in advance so I'm thinking we should be A-ok for domestic 2022 flights.

I need to get away every few months & have no issue canceling if there's a lockdown, just do what you gotta do.

I just noticed going back onto the website the below, got 28th June & 29th June, I'm sure it wasn't like this yesterday.
T&C's still refer to 'by' & 'inclusive' of 28th June.
I'm more accustomed to these unspecific wording from QF.

This is Velocity's second bonus status credit offer in a row that excludes Getaway fares. I wonder if this will be a normal thing in future promos?
I blame Rex. $39 getaway fares are now common all because of what they've caused.

I already have my status extended till April 2022. Is it true that whatever status I earn before September won't count towards the next platinum status?

That is true.
It all gets reset September 30th apparantly.
Interesting to see exactly how it happens.
I don't imagine it'll reset to zero your account. Just whatever earnt prior to sept won't count towards requalify.
Only to upgrade if so.

Works out well cos can't imagine too much flying before Sept this year under the circumstances.

Good chance to DSC for flights post Sept thou.
