Alot of long term Virgin Frequent Flyers felt quite disappointed when we saw bonus status credits being offered only to a select group of status matched customers, myself included.

It looks like VA have now listened and have opened the opportunity to everyone! See link below

It is for a limited time, flights booked before 13th November and flown before 31st January 12 will now earn double SC's and it includes the partner airlines as well.

Good job VA

The T&Cs on that page quote " This offer is only available to those selected by Virgin Australia and is non-transferable."

Yes but it is now being advertised on the Velocity site not just via email, so I'd suggest that now means all members have been selected for the offer.

Was in the paper in Melbourne today as well.

Will finally make my first status with a VA Silver on Tuesday, so a few flights in this period should lock it in for another year.

:D

When was that?

That was certainly the case before it was advertised, but I think if they are putting it in the paper and advertising online, and they are not specifically saying "only available to those it has been emailed to" in the terms, then you can consider an advertisement as an offer of the promotion.

I think what may have happened is the same T&C's have been used from previously, but have not been updated.

Otherwise, if that is not the case and they are not clearly indicating in the advertising that it is only for those emailed the offer, they are going to have 1. A lot of p*ssed of customers, and 2. A potential fine from the ACCC for misleading advertising.

Friday afternoon 4/11 - Gold Velocity contact centre
I agree 100% with you guys though, if they are placing ads in the paper, they really need to honour the double SC, I might book a run and see what happens, as I think we have an almost certain chance of getting the double.

.... or maybe one of us could ring the rewards centre and ask again.

I email VFF last week to ask if I was eligible for the offer. I have not been sent the email, but had seen it on the VFF website.

Got a reply telling me as long as the booking and travel dates are in the above period I would receive double SC.

This double status is great stuff. I got status matched to Platinum which is vald until end of AUG12.

I am going to Europe in a few weeks and need to book a trans-atlantic - I am booking Delta LON-JFK-LAX-JFK-LON on a cheap "S" class business fare which earns me 400 SC so double that and I've got my Plat status credits. I still need to fly 8 DJ sectors though...so far none. Need to work on that. :-)

The annoying thing for me is that I am frustratingly close to qualifying for Platinum and this double-credit promo could have made all the difference, had I not booked all my flights for Nov/Dec/Jan prior to this promo being announced. Now wondering if it's worth cancelling all my bookings and re-booking to get the double-SC's.

Having earned my Gold status the "hard-way" (100's of Saver Fares rather than a few PE flights) and now seeing all these status matched Qantas FF's getting the 'elite' treatment is a bit of a kick in the guts really. Am thinking about ringing Qantas and asking them if they'd like to snag a Velocity Gold Member by offering status match in the other direction to see how I go...... Given recent events "over there" and their attempts to win customers back, it might actually be worth a shot!! (Anyone given this a go?)

If not, it might just be a matter of sitting back and waiting 12 months until all these status matched QFF's fail to meet re-qualification and once again VA realize who their "true" loyal customers are.....

Kevin you make great points - I hope you get the Plat with DJ.

I was thinking that I would be one of those that would not requalify for DJ plat after status match as I was thinking I would be loyal to QF. I've been QF plat unbroken for 10 years and just qualified for their new ridiculous P1. After the 29OCT grounding QF lost me as a client for good. Even this year of the 20 odd long haul flights I've done mainly to LAX, SIN and LHR only about 2 have been on time - the rest either cancelled, or delayed on average by aboutn 1-3 hours. There were no strikes at the time.

Now if DJ were so nice to give me plat with a lot of value adds - like Hilton Diamond (I used it last week in MEL - booked cheapest room at Hilton on Park and was upgrade to high floor exec room with all the privleges) - this is great stuff.

There is very little disparity now between DJ and QF product - so the choice is a no brainer.

Welcome to DJ/VA GoldenWinger! I too am a previous QFF Platinum Member, until some years ago when I wanted to burn some points to fly my (then) fiancée to BKK to meet me on my way back from LHR. I called the QFF Call Centre and was told "there were no seats available". I said "Really? There are plenty of revenue seats available; even on a Red eDeal" to which the reply came "Yes, but there are no redemption seats".

I then made the mistake of referring to DJ's "Any seat, any flight" policy and was told "Go fly Virgin"!!!! I KID YOU NOT!!! When I questioned her attitude she said that I was the third person today that had made this comment, that there was nothing she could do about it, and if I had a problem with that, then I should (said it again.....) "Go fly Virgin". And that's exactly what I've done for the past 5-6 years. That day, I signed up for Velocity Rewards, changed over all my credit cards, starting renting from Europcar, etc. etc. etc. Haven't looked back.

I really have no problem with folks like you that intend to use the status match to genuinely change their flying habits. But I have heard of a number of passengers (including some travelling friends of mine) saying they will use-and-abuse the offer 'for those flights they are forced to take with VA', but fully intend to maintain their precious QFF P1 status. The sooner these users-and-abusers are weeded out, the better.

(Perhaps VA should review in 3-4 months and downgrade those that don't look like requalifying?)

yippe! Thank you AFFers for lobbying for us (the ones who didnt get the email), i was abit sad when i check my email all day and did not receive an email about the double SC and heard some of you did. now i can book my flights!

Thanks VA/DJ. I'll be flying VA/DJ domestically over the next 8 months in an attempt to maintain Platinum status. The double SC's is a real bonus. I have felt nothing but appreciated by VA/DJ. :D

Nothing but love? You must be a status match customer (tongue in cheek):p

I'm not having a go at you, actually good for you showing the love back to VA!

I'm just being a bit of a sarcastic smart*ss
