Double Status Credits For All Velocity Frequent Flyers

I went from 278 to 798 SCs over the weekend - I was hoping that would leave me with only 102 SCs to pick up to requalify gold - but, of course, the 298 SCs beyond the Gold qualification point were, in Velocity's view, earned before I was Gold. So unless I qualify for platinum (which, thanks to family pooling, seems likely) then those 298 SCs are completely useless, because my requal year started yesterday but those 298 'extra' SCs were earned on Saturday. A little frustrating to have the SCs disappear into no man's land - but good incentive to qualify for platinum!

I was going to be in a similar situation, as my gold year ended 30/11/11, with gold requal 30/11/12, therefor any SC earned prior to 30/11/11 were basically useless for requal, but counted for Platinum earn. What I did was book my first SC run during the Double SC period, on OOL-MEL-OOL, plus my usual end of year flights, will see my gold renew level reached before Christmas. Those Double SC really helped out on the quick renew level. Just to do a family Weekend away now on el cheapo airfares, and it will be Platinum. (I have a strange feeling the family pooling will die a sudden death, just like the initial "Per sector" SC earn when they released it, that was the biggest backflip ever :) where Gold was attainable for around $1500. so I will utilise it whilst I can.
The funny thing about family pooling, is a mate of mine flew to Dublin on Etihad, I told him about the pooling and set him up with his wife and two kids pooling to his account, by the time he gets back, he will be 100SC off Platinum, and he hasn't set foot on a Virgin aircraft. (Obviously he will still need to do the 8 sectors on VA, but not a bad deal regardless).

That last statement brings on my next question, not relevent to me, but obviously will be to others. Do flights taken by family members, where SC are pooled, count towards Status level achievement, ie a family of 5 travelling on pooled SC earn, does that count as 1 flight, or 5 flights, for the benefits of Status levels? I think I know the answer, or at least hope the answer would be one, as we would see 1 full fare Y trip to England achieve Platinum, which would devalue Platinum...... Maybe VA Platinum 1 next, for those that actually fly Virgin Frequently:confused::confused::lol:

Sadly I wasn't able to book anything in time although I am traveling in the earning period. Oh well!!

I liked that QF had it open for the entire period to book and fly for their double sc promo. Suits my travel that is mainly last minute.

Now I know why I just qualified for silver, flight from Mackay to Sydney was booked in the booking period and flight was on Friday.

I would probably be flying some extra flights whilst the opportunity is there if this were the case.

I had booked flights before 31st Oct for travel during the double credits period and ended up only with normal status earn. I think double status applies only if the booking was made during the designated time frame.

Correct, the booking date is part of the conditions of offer

Yeah but some people got the double status offer for flights booked in a period before 31 October. So they would need to check their eligibility against the offer they received.

That's true, i forgot about the other promotions they put on, good advice to check up if you were offered double sc earlier. as this is the thread for the promotion to all members, my comments were based on that

Same with me.

All my flying (well, all 4 sectors ) have finished, so now time to await the bonus SC's in my account - I'd expect by late next week. Let's hope their systems have been robustly tested ;)

Yeah it's working. My bonus SC were and are being credited straight away.

Hmm, I am not as lucky as you Andrew Kelly (as my Double Status Credits are definitely not crediting at the same time as the flights), but thankfully I know a couple of people who can chase it up for me if they don't come through ;)

I do like family pooling though :D

My outbound was Saver but my inbound was Flexi, so they appear to be the correct 1x SC's :D.

So with my only other flying being:

I am therefore expecting a bonus of 60 SC's from the BNE/SYD/BNE flights and then another 60 SC's from the BNE/CBR/BNE (120 in total).

That will then give me a total YTD of 360 SC's - 40 to maintain Gold and 4 sectors. Do that in a canter by 30 August. Maintaining Gold in DJ and QF was not as difficult as I thought...particularly when the status renewal dates are 6 months apart. But let's be honest, without double SC's and Family pooling, I'd be struggling to maintain Silver, let alone Gold.

Maintain Gold
Review Date
Status Credits earned since 30 Aug 2011[SUP]1[/SUP]
Additional Status Credits required to maintain Gold by 30 Aug 2012
Additional sectors required to maintain Gold by 30 Aug 2012[SUP]2[/SUP]

Still waiting for my double SC's to post...VFF, can you confirm what time frame for them to be loaded onto accounts?

Mine posted pretty quickly, both double and family pooling at the same time. The family pooling and double SC are not distinguishable from each other on my statement ie. they were pooled at double rates.

I haven't seen some for a flight I booked for my wife, but not sure if that is because I stuffed up the outbound flight and booked it the day before we'd planned.....

Does missing one flight negate the earn on all the flights booked on the same PNR? I understand I wouldn't get any points/SC for the flight that was missed, and I'm already annoyed as that I've missed out on 40SC not to mention the booking cost... If I've missed out on 80SC I may have to do somting drastic!

I need to to a MEL-SYD_MEL in the next couple of weeks, might turn it into a Status run aswell. Can go via BNE or HBA if it gets a few extra SCs. any one got any tips?

The best I can find in J is $6.65/SC (taking account of Double SC Promo) MEL- BNE

Ah, that is where I got . Looks like mine are right then. QF have better systems (explanation/description). Lucky I didn't make a fool of myself...

Try looking at the Satus run thread, currently BNE-CNS is good value in J while MEL-OOL is a good second, at $4.24/SC

I just had double status credits posted for a flight I did Christchurch to Melbourne. Had family pooling so 3 x double status credits. Was not expecting that. Flights were booked 06Sep11 - sector credited was 05Jan12 - Christchurch - Melbourne. We travelled Melbourne to Christchurch on 26Dec11 - no double credits for that as yet.

Wonder if I should be so bold as to hit them up for the Melbourne -Christchurch sector or just remain silent. Especially since the ticket was purchased before the offer existed.
