Yes but what if my work happens to use a participating TMC but I haven't been explicitly invited?

Re: Double Status Credits offer thru Corporate Traveler

Thanks for sharing.

I will be flying on a VA marketed flight operated by Etihad during the period, which is technically not included but hopefully they let it slip!

Re: Double Status Credits offer thru Corporate Traveler

Damn, made a booking through my Association CTM last week within the travel period. But I've registered just in case I get another one

I made a booking the day before ( 31st May ) I received the offer. Called CT and asked them to cancel and rebook, only $50 to do so. I usually book work travel 2 weeks max in advance, but will take advantage of this offer and book my next months travel next week ;) this offer has the perfect timing as my SCs year starts at the end of this month.

Re: Double Status Credits offer thru Corporate Traveler

On Sunday, I sent Corporate Traveller a request to quote my current airfare requirement (10+ Dom J, + assortment of Int).

No reply as yet, so I guess they're not interested in $6k+. Any other travel agencies that would be included in this promo?

Re: Double Status Credits offer thru Corporate Traveler

I sent an email request to them the week before last and have had no response either. Has anyone had any success booking with these guys?

I think you're right that $6k+ is not of interest to them. They have a specific page on their website about new customers wanting to take advantage of this offer: Earn double Status Credits with Virgin Australia | Business Travel Offers | Corporate Traveller

Note your business has to sign up for their "SmartFly" program, which requires you to meet certain criteria, including "Your total air travel expenditure is at least AUD20,000 and is less than AUD350,000 (GST exclusive)."

I am surprised that they go as low as $20k pa. A fair few here (if they are to believed) would easily exceed that threshold on personal spend alone.

Re: Double Status Credits offer thru Corporate Traveler

Agreed, 20k PA is basically nothing for many travellers. It's only 3 return long haul J trips a year. I don't pay for a lot of my tickets (points) and I would have to be hitting around 20k, but def not with QF only.

While the criteria for sign up refer to total airfare spend, I believe to qualify for any ongoing benefits of the program, a company has to spend at least 20k on VA "base fares", i.e. this includes VA codes only, and excludes GST (and potentially other charges?).

I agree this is not a big hurdle for a business if they have a few travellers who fly with VA regularly, but I doubt if very many individuals would meet this criterion. For example, I earned over 6,500 VA SCs in the space of 3 years, but I have never come close to spending 20k per annum on VA base fares. Although I travel overseas a lot in J, I don't think I have ever been booked on a VA code, as you can almost always get cheaper options with other airlines (often on exactly the same flights).

Also bear in mind that for businesses that spend between $20-50k on VA base fares, the rebate is 4% (of the base fare) on domestic spend and 2% on international spend. So on $20k, the rebate would be a maximum of $800 if the spend was 100% domestic. So yes, it's a low hurdle to be eligible, but not exactly a huge rebate, and there is a clear risk of no rebate at all for companies that expect to just about meet this criterion.

Consequently, if people contacted CT with requests that appeared to relate to their own individual travel needs, rather than those of a company as a whole, I am not surprised if CT is not interested. Slightly surprised that they don't have the courtesy to reply though.

Egencia, American Express Travel, FCM, etc?

As Falcs said above, I wonder how closely VA will stick to the T&C's, which state in part:

Only recipients of this offer from their participating Travel Management Company are eligible to redeem the offer. Recipients are not permitted to forward this offer to any persons.

Thus your Travel Management company have to offer it to you and it is targeted.

The Association of which I am a member uses Egencia. But they have sent me no offer, so I am fresh out of luck.

CT had the offer open to all on their web site??

Re: Double Status Credits offer thru Corporate Traveler

Well then, would seem they were in breach offering to all via their website. Should have been an internal offer only to existing (and new) clients and their travelling staff. You said "had", so is that to mean it has now been taken down?
