Double Status Credits on QF Operated Flights. Book 9/8/18-14/8/18 for travel 21/8/18 to 8/8/19

Noticed that Qantas have announced a special day trip to Longreach in October to raise money for Drought Relief. Looks like an interesting trip.

My first thought was "But will it count for the double status credit promotion"? ;)

"Qantas Points and Status credits are not earned on this fare."

Has Qantas reduced the status earn rate on domestic flights. Rockhampton to Sydney was 20 SC , but today as I was booking a flight it displayed only 10 points.

If it's a connecting flight, the booking engines calculations are often wrong.

Looks like the prices increased for the LHR return flights I was looking at. From 7,800 to 9,100. Ouch!
Hope it comes down before it ends. Doubt it though. My plans are out the window now

It ain't me even though I did book a LHR return flight...

Any suggestions on what's the cheapest way for me to earn 140 SC on a domestic flight from MEL. Thinking of doing my first SC run to get gold.

I too would be interested to know the comparative numbers as my post was purely speculative. I think my basic point is that DSC's make gaining status at the lower end comparatively easy, as the gaps between levels are not large. The benefits for a WP, who has LTG, are not so clear, unless they are well on their way to P1 already. In a way, I suppose this circles back to the argument about life time platinum.

Then there is the case of “PLU” who do extra flights to attain the status they might otherwise find elusive. I could imagine plenty of SG FF’s who might consider the odd Staus run to boost their status.

Due to a big drop in work travel I have fallen back to PS, soon to be NB in fact. But due to the same drop in travel I have far less need for lounges - thanks to this forum most travel is now redemption J, so I'll keep paying attention to this promo but probably won't drop $2k just to get to gold again, unless a big need to travel arises.

Some combination of Red eDeal + Flexi Fare + Business on MEL-BNE-CNS (15, 30, 60 each sector respectively) and return will get you those SCs easily with DSC.

Any harm putting in an ABN registered to Business Rewards in a booking? Will the promo still be valid?

What about booking through the Qantas Premier Credit Card concierge and using the discounted companion fare?

Already had a holiday to the US booked for next month, not the most impressive trip being all flex Y but for someone who's PS+QP and never made it to SG or higher - easy 640SC's on top of my current balance to instant SG qualification for the effort of cancelling and rebooking my flights again with the promotion.

Got the requested DOM J upgrades back straight away on the rebooked flights but probably cost my self any slim chance I may have had on the INT Y+ or J upgrades (originally requested T-90+) being PSQP and now trying to join the queue around T-30 :(

The other interesting thing was the A332 (int config) segment has morphed into a 744 which means I'll do the Trifecta of Qantas jumbos across the trip - 744 to the QF11 A388/789 leg. The A332 J would have been fantastic on a Redeye but the 744 still has lie flat J so can't complain too much - at least it wasn't downgraded to 738 (yet?).

At least it's brought me 18 months at SG and maybe a shot at WP with 6 months still left in this current membership year if some planned INT trips come off.

Just booked CBR-MEL-SYD-WLG-SYD-MEL-CBR in J for $3).30 an SC. Will earn 660, but as i failed to reach 600 SC's last year, although enjoyed the lounge benefits on trips to Sri Lanka and Europe, I'll need to find another 40SC's from somewhere. I guess i could book a CBR-SYD return and just get the double SC's on it, although the $660 RTN to HK looks pretty good IMO.

Got a week in NZ again, plan to do the Tongariro crossing now in Feb, plus Welllington and Rotorua.

After what turned out to be much difficulty BNE-SYD-SFO return for 880. Revenue flight no issue but could not get the points flight for my partner to stick. Award seats were there, went whole way through booking but kept getting error after the contact confirmation pop-up. First call to premium line pointed me to error being caused by wrong chrome settings and said they could make booking for me but would have to pay. Made changes, issue continued, called back and spent 40 minutes with the lovely Stephen getting reward booking into system and linked to my revenue flight. Now to decide what to do. Thinking trains across to Chicago, Washington and NYC then fly back to SFO.

It was better when the DSC counted towards the 500 QF/JQ status credits. Also note the loyalty bonuses are for at 500 SC, 1000 SC, 1500 SC and 2000 SC and that loyalty bonuses don't count towards P1. So to take the status credits for reaching 1500 SC you'd either want to be chasing lifetime status or to reach that amount close enough to the next membership year to be able to take the status credits then.

Agreed -nearly

The 50SC would really only benefit prospective SG and WP. It does not even count toward Lifetime status.

However that last 50 SC may be all that’s needed to fall over the line

The 50SC has always added to my lifetime tally. It does count unless something has changed.

Definitely counts towards lifetime.

I started a specific thread to sort out this QF SC quagmire here, and was asked if I was having a rant, but this latest exchange seems to suggest I'm not the only one struggling to keep up with which SC are applied to which goal.

I can also add another "except for" by stating DSC's also don't apply to the secretive FFer status challenges, yet there are no Ts&Cs that say that!

I notice a slight change on the page.. it's now between 21AUG08 till 02AUG19. That may explain the slight absense while the CMS was repopulated.

Very interesting ...glad I took a picture for this very purposeView attachment 133606

My email says 8th Aug 2019

As I have a flight I want to book for 3/8/19, Marki may saved my bacon (pun intended). I didn't get an email offer and my registration confirmation email simply gives a link, which has now altered.

I'll be asking them to do a manual credit of the DSCs for that flight.

A question on timing: I'm booking a status run around 10 days before my anniversary date (end of October). I know sometimes it can take weeks for the DSCs to post — am I at risk of not getting the bump to WP while waiting for the DSCs, or is this an easy thing to call up and ask to have fixed?
