I wonder if it’s been within 100 km of a tandoor?
Doubt it - gonna guess the filling uses a "tandoori" commercial seasoning. (No, I would never think the pie itself is cooked in a tandoor)

FWIW I wonder how many Indian restaurants actually have a tandoor, even if it's a modern metal based one rather than traditional clay oven. (Yes, I'm well aware there must be some good Indian restaurants in almost any major centre in Australia...)

I think the vast majority in Sydney, where it's quite common to see even food court Indian joints with tandoors...

They do fly to India now so I guess they’re appealing to the customers based between sydney and Melbourne
I have no confidence that that thought entered into the decision-making process in proposing that pie for the domestic offering.

It's a chicken pie with tandoori seasoning. Appeal to Indians due to having them in the network? You'd have more luck urinating on their foot and telling them it's raining...

Why'd they choose the pie? Probably less difficult to stuff up, cheap, easy to cater, and most (I said, most) food with spices holds up well in the air. Reminds me of those butter chicken pastry puffs they serve in Y.
Having eaten several QF Indian meals between MEL and DEL I can confidently say that the rubbish QF serves is nothing like proper Indian cuisine.
This is no way an out, but even Indian carriers don't necessarily do a great job consistently either. Not sure how Indian people see the offerings (if they select them at all), though seeing Indian people eat average Indian food in Australia is telling.
