Double Status Credits promotion (Book by 27/2/24, travel 28/2/24-14/2/25)

thats similar to me also! Didnt think about doubles not being awarded till Oct?
It's fine - they are backdated to the flight (SC earning) dates, and so even if you missed out on seeing the status retained or elevated at the start of the month, if you hit it, your status would be adjusted once the DSCs credited during that month.

Cheers,
Matt

I need 277 status credits to retain WP, so I'm looking at booking 2 return Business Classic Rewards flights. 1) SYD>MEL via CBR and, 2) SYD>CBR via MEL. I have Points Club.

I thought I had the SC figured out and then I noticed these flights are 'mixed cabin' and 1 of the 2 flight legs is in Economy! Is my assumption correct that these flights will only earn 25 SC one-way (18+7) rather than the 36 SC one-way (18+18) that I had originally expected?
That would be correct. But cost wise i think it'll ve charged at J so you would need to find the J flights. Also do note that while the # of points is thr same, the additional taxes does make it a little bit more expensive from the SC per $ perspective.

I know this is slightly off-topic, but those taking advantage of the DSC to move up status and fly with other Oneworld Alliance partners - be aware that it takes a while for it to reflect in the partner airline's system.

A good example would be AA - they usually update at the end of the month to reflect at the start of the new month, whereas JAL will reflect as soon as Qantas pushes the status update to Oneworld. This can make for problematic discussions with the Gate Agents for extra baggage fees, as some of them don't know how to override/waive the fees due to mismatched statuses.

Fares can be purchased however you like. Some folks like to.use GV's for simple bookings(due to restrictions on use like no multicity etc) to.avoid CC fees.
You can book also multi-city itineraries with GV's but need to call QF sales / bookings for that. My experience has been OK with that, resulting in the correct flights. Sometimes the agents see higher pricing than what the online multi-city engine gives but they've always been able to work through it and get it to what's shown online No booking fee ("unable to self-serve online") nor CC fees.

This must be the issue! Too excited to try what i've been reading.

Second assumption, my one way flight credit can be redeemed for a return journey?
Is your 24 hours up? Did you try and change your flight since then and, if so, were you able to change the other information and not just the date?
Thanks.

Yep I almost missed a flight due to this when checking in with AA. 1hr to speak to 3 people to avoid the $280 USD they wanted to charge me for a second bag. AS had the same systems issue but the agent simply looked at my status and apologised...

Years back, I had a number of status changes mid trip during my first DONE3. Dropped from silver to bronze near the start of the trip, AA boarding pass still had silver listed.
A couple of weeks later, towards the end of the US leg of that trip, I just got back up to gold and entered the AA club with my old silver card. They just asked if I'd been promoted (got gold 2 days prior) and let me in.

I activated the DSC on my account last week and got the email. Yesterday I got another email reminding me about the promo and to remember to activate.
Is that normal?

I got the same. My app says I’m registered for DSC though and I have the confirmation email + screenshots, so figure all the necessary evidence is there.

In the FAQ on the email confirmation for DSc registration it states under which flights are eligible ‘Double Qantas Points or double Status Credits will not be earned on some fare types and booking classes. See Airline Earning Table for details.’

I assume if a booking for business saver fare AKL-MEL in J shows 80 SC, that those SC are eligible for DSC? Right?

Sorry just got to make sure I understand all the fine print before dropping $3k in pursuit of QF gold…
I guess if you don't mind indirect flights, then you can earn more for less. I did mine recently to get WP for less than 8k

Usually I book a BCI-LRE flex fare during the DSC and use it for as the basis for a alternate itin. The BCI_LRE fares are being returned in my searches.

Is there an alternate recommended flex fare?

I've noticed a lot of dates in Jan/Feb for short hops on the triangle+ (bne<>syd<>mel<>adl) conveniently have zero flex seats available :)

Have a potential USA work trip for 2 pax, but at the moment it is still TBC.
It will be the same as per the trip taking in 2023;

BNE - SYD, SYD - LAX, LAX - PDX, PDX - LAX, LAX - BNE in Flexible Economy.

Have tried to get a confirmation all week, but unable too, so now thinking may have to take the option as suggested in post #207, in making the flex booking.

My question would be, if i book 1 x pax for $249 flex, can i then change it to 2 x pax for the trip to USA if it gets confirmed?

Alternatively, thinking to book 2 x flex tickets, 1 pax each allowing for options if flights are not together or at the same time.

I guess it's whether i want to invest $249 or $498, right?

anyone able to help me out before booking flights?

Can you change a 1 x pax, to a 2 x pax and keep the DSC?

It sounds like AA in a nutshell - thankfully, their refund process was more seamless after my complaint was raised officially in their forms, and they provided me with where to refund it. I had to write in the notes for them to please speak to Qantas as this is an OW Alliance problem. Also, staff training and not all gates are updated - AA Platnium used to be OW Sapphire, but now AA Platnium is OW Emerald, so they now have 2 OWE status like Qantas does. Even when getting called out, some supervisors are too prideful to back down.

They also just say, "Just call Oneworld," and I have to remind them that there is no contact number available to the public. It truly makes Qantas' customer service seem competent...

AS had the same systems issue but the agent simply looked at my status and apologised...
Alaska Airlines is significantly better with their CS, both on the ground and in the air.

It really just be the luck of the draw with the agent and how well versed they are. Some staff don't even know what the Oneworld's reciprocal benefits are and are insistent that you have to hold AA's status to enter their lounge (and this is just their Admiral Lounge and not even the Flagship Lounge!)

With a storm of "when will my Double Status/Points" hit, and are reading these posts - make sure to have your Qantas app ready to show your actual status and may luck be in your favour with a rep that is helpful!

Thanks - can you expand on this?
In what way do you want me to expand?
I'm simply suggesting that you look for flights from SYD to either ADL or HBA as you can definitely get J seats all of the way and there are more flights available in J than on the CBR route that you've been looking at.

A tip for the newbies -

Regarding your tip, can you confirm that during the initial 24 hour window only the date/time can be changed but after that the route can be modified?
Also, do you have to purchase the initial ticket using a GV or can you purchase it directly?
Thanks.

where exactly do you get this idea from?

I already addressed your 2nd question. You can purchase these fares cia any channel.
