Double Status Credits promotion (Book by 27/2/24, travel 28/2/24-14/2/25)

So my question is if I book in this way, ADL-LAX then LAX-RIC, on the same ticket and same day but not a continuous leg, will I be able to check in and have my bags checked the whole way through?

I’m dreading the thought of a delay costing me the LAX-RIC portion.
This is not really a DSC question, but yes, same day connection will be fine.

Note that it doesn't matter that much as you have to clear immigration and customs in LAX anyway which includes collecting bags. However you will be proected in case of delays on the same booking.

To relate back to DSC, you will not get any for non QF operated legs such as LAX-RIC on AA.

Thank you, I knew it wasn’t entirely DSC related but I also didn’t know which thread to go to specifically for my query.

I appreciate the input and thank you for the clarification around the AA legs not qualifying for DSC.

I've got four of the 'spare' DSC flex bookings now - that should be enough 🤣
I've spent hours reading posts but still can't work out why you need to book a flex fare in this situation - why not a cheaper red e-deal and pay the $99 change fee later if you need to? For example, BNE-SYD $169.

Both fare types offer change and flight credit. Flex also allows you a refund less $99.

Why pay $99 when you don't have to.

Difference between Flexi & Red rooster.

Finally a new question. I suspect yes, but leave it to the resident panelists for confirmation.
Yes. Smart question. Smart approach. It is the PNR creation date that counts for DSC. The rules confirm that you can change and still eligible for DSC if the subsequent added (adding is change!) are within same period.

I have done this last year with RTW (Well, OW Reward, the 35k mile one). You can keep adding into it, yes.

Next level: don't pay change fee of 5000 points. You can ask not to ticket it and leave it open, also ask to leave autocancel flag turned off with no specific date (usually it's set for 3 or 7 days). QF reward seast won't get deleted. Other airlines may delete. I had FinnAir and AA rewards deleted, I notices the same day and grabbed them back... Needs nerves to do it (I got lucky as they could have gotten back to the commercial pool...).

When you have a complex RTW/OW Reward booking and you hunt for rewards seats, this comes handy. Next time I'd just pay the 5000 change every time as it's a bit stressful...

Using your example -
red e-deal BNE-SYD $169 + $99 change fee = $268
My choice -
Flex BKQ-LRE $174 + $0 change fee = $174

I just found Blackall to Longreach for $174 for Flex Y
$169 with my QBR discount (Level 1 - only applies to Flex Y and some J fares!). Greater discount if QBR Level 2 or 3.

Hopefully booking via QBR doesn’t affect future changes and retaining DSCs?

It shouldn't do, but using QBR prevents you using your personal points total to points+pay instead of paying $

Thanks. Shouldn’t be an issue - will wait for a better cash Sale fare anyway (probably tomorrow…).

I have a booking SYD <> BNE return which had a schedule change of 15 minutes and was automatically reticketed. I want to use this change as an opportunity to cancel it and rebook under double sc (also at a slightly different time as the flight leaves earlier than I want). Nowhere in manage my booking does it say if I cancel the refund is free. If I cancel in manage my booking will the system automatically know to provide a refund or should I talk to someone? Also am I correct in believing a 15 minute schedule change is still enough to allow a free refund?

When it has suited me I have used a 5 minute change as an excuse for a no charge full cancellation.

This thread has been really helpful! I don't have all my travel locked in, but after reading through all the 2023 and 2024 threads I've decided to do some forward bookings between Mt Isa/Cloncurry and Blackall/Longreach on Flex fares.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but how do you make changes to the routing of the forward flight. The self-service tool only seems to let me change the dates with no option to change the routing (say Melbourne to Sydney)?

Was hoping to try and figure this out otherwise I might cancel within the 24 hour booking window and book business seats on flights I know I'll take...

If I cancel only do you think the refund would go through or should I talk to someone? The QF contact centre is busy, currently at 40 minutes wait and counting. Tried earlier and stopped after 30 minutes.

I believe the only way to change routing is talk to an agent.

Yea, makes sense with a $174 flex. But either fare will allow change of route including dep/arr city and keep the PRN without having to refund to flight credit?
(Sorry I think you just answered that as I posted)
