Only short trips to Melbourne or Brisbane this time around, any overseas plans would have needed to be done well in advance.

Was thinking of Queenstown as well but didn't have time to discuss it with others.

Well, that's the promo done and dusted now. Hope everyone got what they wanted, and nothing you don't!

Now we start the wait for the first posting of DSC's(or DP) :D

I'm flying later today on an eligible booking, so guess I'll be one of the first to find out. I expect nothing for several weeks at the minimum if previous years' slow starts are any guide. So no freaking out if not the usual quick posting.

In the meantime bring on the questions about if we're thee yet, and when the next one will be!

Happy flying!

So does this mean you're kicking off the (inevitable) new thread? 😜

Gosh
I got busy late this arvo

Was interesting to find international fares (booked 3 (& one mistake will seyonara to that $25)) have the $25 holding guarantee
So that pushed payment to the never never (jokes mid to late March) but either way can write them off if needs be as the juniors flights are predominately EK operated (3 out of 4) and don’t qualify)

And a gaggle of J domestic fares
2 x syd
2 x OOL via MEL to get to AFF Bris Oct 2024 with payment only required 16, 22 October
Plus looks like my kids and I’m going to the mirage of (Kuwait & Palestine) aka KGC and PLO (credits will Cover their and my repositioning flights plus in case I end up departing out of Australia or otherwise instead I’ll use them return on dom red-E deals at Christmas)

In the big scheme of things I took the double points (F Ex Auckland to LHR is 80,000 FF points cause extra SCs are pretty meaningless being so adjacent to LTG and juniors are not on the SC chase…)
Now I just need to fix 2 bookings middle name corrections..,and find a way to get to NZ. AIR NEW ZEALAND FLY direct from here and looks like I’ll be shopping in Europe!,)

I think now we start the "have you got your points/SC yet?" Part of the thread.

I came out of the promo having booked
- J return Classic reward SYD-BLR in July (As Points Club I still get SCs and I think it is 112 each way and that becomes 224).
- J Classic reward SYD-MNL on Boxing Day then HKG-SYD on December 30 (48 each way and that becomes 96 so 192 all up).
- Return trip to Auckland to see family in June, Y+ on the 787 on the way over, J in a 737 on the way back. As it is a paid fare I should get 240 return (80 on the way over, 160 on the way back).

All up, 656 SCs so and satisfied with the promo. With domestic travel booked (including 3x to Perth this year) and an extra trip to the US at some point in early to mid Q4 which will include some internal travel with American Airlines, I should keep Platinum and be just one year away from LTG at this point next year (I am on 11.4k SCs).

No Qantas sales today??? This is unusual.
My recollection is that in earlier years, immediately after the DSC promo periods, there have been domestic sales and then international sales. I wonder when do they come online again?

Next big sale may accompany a seat drop and the FF changes.

Only three bookings for me, some domestic flights I needed to take anyway this year which sees me retain WP, and one booking for the next membership year. Ran out of points, but in any case don't want to double down on next membership year until we know the scope of the changes.

At the end of my call, also sought assistance with a revenue fare for a family member for whom the website was erroring out on. According to the phone consultant it was due to a flight having no seats available but still showing online.

No bookings during this DSC for me (not even a new PNR!) for the first time in about 8 years as both Mrs sudoer and I will be applying for Status Hold.

Apparently I'll be starting my next membership year with my current SC balance (2500) so I'll have a pretty good stab at P1 in my 25-26 membership year and will no doubt be using the next DSC!

Oh is that a feature where you can have an "extra" year?
