Double Status Credits promotion (Book by 27/2/24, travel 28/2/24-14/2/25)

Are you sure all those sectors are in business? If you go ahead as if you were booking it - it should warn you that some sectors are in economy.

Try clicking the "Business" filter/tab on the page, this will force the page to price all sectors in business class, and should show a higher SC earn.

Here's what it looks like when clicking on the Business Class tab/filter with at least 120SC earned and both sectors in J. Interestingly in this example the Business Saver fare is significantly cheaper than the Business Sale fare and earns slightly more SC's.

I'm actually surprised at the lengths of some people who would actually do this (spend $2k for a literal overnight trip just for some SCs!).

As a Bronze member and a non-frequent flyer (don't even fly enough to even get to silver), SCs don't mean much to me. 😅

Most people doing a run like this are going for Platinum, both for the obvious benefits of F lounges etc, but also because WP/P1 makes your QFF point holding significantly more valuable as you're more likely to get the higher value redemptions.

One can see it as spending $2k to unlock $20k+ worth of classic awards (or more, don't forget family can transfer points to the WP and they can request on the family's behalf..)

I just tried to check what a good status run from Brisbane might be. Brisbane to Wellington is being advertised on the web site as return from $1284 for Dec-Jan 2024/2025. But when you go to book the sale fare, it ends up being $1517 and you can only get that by flying direct. Is this the end of status runs?
There is still "I" fare available BNE-WLG-BNE direct only for $1387.

There's nothing more FC than GV.
brad pitt you do not talk about fight club GIF

Might sit out this promo. Have flown mostly with VA and on QF partner flights where I didn't get status credits (CX and EK) this membership year so I need 520 to requalify for Gold. Has been a nice run since first getting it during the status match offer in 2021!

Hm. It seems my post has caused a bit of a stir, both in this thread and via DM.

I admit to some confusion. This entire website exists (in part) in order to share tips and tricks not known to the average flyer. Everything I posted I learned from this very forum, via public posts.

I find it very doubtful that Qantas isn't aware of this loophole. They either choose not to do anything to stop it because they see it as beneficial, or cannot do anything to stop it because of IT limitations. If the latter, I'd be surprised if it was high on their list of priorities to fix given all the other issues they're facing on multiple fronts.

If a moderator decides my post contravenes the rules of the board, then fair enough (although I'd want to know what rules have been broken). But as far as I can see I'm contributing to the board by sharing information in the same way I've benefited from other members sharing the very same information - and more - over the years.

It's pretty straightforward, really.

There is a difference between subtly referring to something, allowing readers to work it out with a bit of guesswork and legwork, and writing walls of text setting that same thing out in express detail.

If the latter, I'd be surprised if it was high on their list of priorities to fix given all the other issues they're facing on multiple fronts.
Wait until someone on TikTok picks it up and it goes viral. It'll be dead within 24 hours.

It’s not up to the moderators to delete what you post.

Entirely up to you what you choose to share in here. Noting that anything you do can be found on a Google search and Ozbargained in seconds.

I booked SYD-BLR return in July during school holidays and intend to book a couple of SYD-AKL returns by the end of the promo. I wanted to go to the US around that time or at Thanksgiving, especially as I have some American Airlines vouchers to use. But having done several searches and found nothing, yet found BLR seats within manageable dates, I opted to wait for an EOFY sale, book a cheaper cash fare and use the saved points to upgrade.
