Double Status Credits promotion (Book by 27/2/24, travel 28/2/24-14/2/25)

I don't look down down on silver or bronze - I was both at one point - and they made me realise that I needed to get to Gold. Unfortunately getting silver doesn't get you any closer to Gold - you still need the 700 SC's in one status year to get to gold. The good thing is that once you have gold it is only 600 SC's to retain it, people have different strategies for that, some do a lot of domestic travel, I do it mostly through return trips to Cairo - because I have to go there anyway.
Until you’re under 1,000 til LTG and then you kinda think
Do I need chase the DSCs to arrive faster or stop worrying about it
That it’ll take care of itself one way or the other

I just booked the OOL-MEL-AKL route and back, how did you book for comfort seat to get a x2 on the SC?

Does that mean you will get (560 + 560) * 2 as part of Double SC or just: base fare x DSC promo + comfort seat SC?
Its not a trip I have actually booked it was just am idea so to speak.
As far as I know to book a comfort seat you must to call up to make your booking.

Not 100% certain as to the total SC in the end.
Without the comfort seat in the calc it would be a quick way from bronze to gold in 1 trip.

Anyways I'm more likely to use some AS miles for something like east coast to east coast via say perth for 20K miles before the deval in March.

Tried searching the thread to no avail…
A colleague just asked if you can book via online travel agents (Expedia, Webjet etc) and still receive the DSCs. I know the eligibility says booked via “travel agent” is ok - am I correct that covers online booking sites too?
Or is strictly the Qantas website?

Yes, as long as your colleague's QFF number is populated in the booking by the OTA, and obviously as long as all the other eligibility criteria is met

Thankyou, I realise that Silver doesn't offer much (meaningful) over Bronze anyway - I only pointed it out as the actual route / fare would potentially get me to Silver.

In that case, I might leave it for now as the plan isn't set in stone - I'll continue to chase points rather than status!

In addition, it seems that the sentiment from higher tiered members is that it's Gold or nothing - but, to get there, doesn't one have to start somewhere? Just some friendly food for thought to those who look down upon / feed words into anyone's mouth who's a lowly Bronze or Silver.
There's nothing wrong with silver. In fact my friend is very happy with silver (I'm trying to convince him with a bit of tweaking his annual travel should get him to gold). Given his extra luggage and business class check in.

It's just that at gold there's a bit more of a jump especially at the OW alliance level. Thats why a lot of people consider it the sweet spot.

Still silver is definitely better than nothing.

I think the general consensus is that unless you get most of the way to attaining/retaining WP from employer funded travel it becomes much harder to justify if you have LTG. LTP is set at such an unattainable level for most that there’s no lifetime status target on QF to aim for after reaching LTG.

DSC offers certainly help with the progress towards LTG.

Earlier this year I passed half way, now less than 36000 SC to go.

30 years down¹ and thirty to go ...

¹(actually 26 years since travel before September 1998 did not count)

This article notes “… you’d need to register for the offer AND BOOK any Qantas marketed and operated flight/s between 21-27 February 2024. Flights with travel dates between 28 February 2024 and 14 February 2025 are eligible …”.

The Qantas offer per the original email notes “… Register in the latest version of the Qantas App for your choice of either double Status Credits or double Qantas Points on Qantas marketed and operated flights BOOKED BY Tuesday 27 February 2024 …”.

I/we have international bookings made some time ago and I see nothing in the Qantas wording that confirms the FF “observation” that only bookings made in the narrow Feb 21 to Feb 27 window are eligible. As I read the Qantas offer it applies to all current bookings, and new bookings made by (end of) Feb 27 (subject to registering for the offer). Checking through various screen shots of the registration process and the final Qantas confirmation of registration in “The App”, I can still see no conditional booking dates window.

Did I miss something?

Please observe and let us know then! I would bet my left nut you won't be receiving DSC though..

Yes you missed something. Scroll down to the bottom of that same email and the very first line of the fine print says this:
