DoubleTree Perth Northbridge

xposted from other thread

Property: Double Tree Perth
Booked: Lowest possible
Rate: $170/night
Received: King executive floor 15
Status: Diamond
Elite treatment: Breakfast, two waters, sweets in room on arrival, turndown service, excellent check in service, lounge access.

Really liked this hotel, in a happening part of town with lots of bars and restaurants. No official hotel parking, used recommended nearby CPP lot, 24$ for 24 hours.

There was no coffee tax or anything else. Breakfast better in the restaurant as you would expect.

Thanks all for the info. Apologies if I missed it, but what time is the evening canape service?

I rang them as I'll be spending a couple of days there and won't arrive before 7pm. Apparently it runs from 6-8pm.
I have a question as well, what level is the highest floor?

I think the drinks go til 9, hmmm, pretty sure. 15 is the top floor.

As I quite enjoyed it I am going to stay there for another work trip next week.

Currently here and I think you are right as there’s no calls for last drinks way past 8pm last night. By the way, has anyone noticed how loud the lift floor announcement and “bing” is? I’m in the corner room and could still hear it if I don’t have the aircond on. Not sure how the guests right in front of the lifts cope.

We have a stay here tomorrow, unfortunately the Hilton app doesn't have the floor plan loaded for this hotel.

Does anyone know how the rooms are arranged or have a photo of a floor plan?

Corner room is 03 (front street view, my preferred) and 15 (back) I think. Ask for rooms away from the lift as the floor announcement in the lift is really loud. Lounge on 2nd floor, evening canapés to 8:30pm.

Great thanks for the tips.

Floor plans were a bit different when I was on floor 13 and 14. ie for front street on floor 14, room 02 and 03 are corner and larger (and 12, 13 on the other side) while on floor 13, I think they were 03 and 04. There was one more room on that side on floor 13. On floor 14, 06,07,08,09 were close to the lift and 2 of them faced the lift. I couldn't remember floor 13 but the number changed a bit.

We have had an upgrade to a top floor Executive Panoramic View King from the base twin redemption.

Will report back.

We stayed in 1512 which is a corner King Executive panoramic View (room booked was a base level Twin on points).

Certainly not big but comfortable and well designed with nice views to the west and north.

coughtail hours in the lounge were from 5:30-8:30pm. The lounge staff were friendly but were still new so weren't sure what they had on offer regarding drinks, eventually (after the waitress made a couple of trips to the back room) we worked out that there was beer, wine and some spirits including a new whisky "Jimbeam Vodka" which we were introduced to when we enquired what the whisky was. I stuck with a scotch. A bit more training or even just some paper menus would probably help the staff out given they were not sure what was available and none of the alcohol was on display.

The lounge food looked OK but probably not quite enough variety to make a proper meal so we ate in the restaurant instead as the welcome letter in our room offered 20% off (food only) for onsite guests. My wife had a lamb rump and I had a parmigiana, both were a good size, tasty and well priced. Service was friendly and the food arrived quickly.

Complimentary Diamond breakfast was offered either in the lounge or full breakfast in the restaurant. The exec room letter only mentioned the lounge breakfast with a $19 up charge for the full breakfast in the restaurant. I forgot to ask if this was true for Gold guests as well. Standard hot breakfast offering with pastries yogurts etc. No coffee tax charged on this occasion.

It was also good to see they read the booking comments. We were seeing Michael McIntyre at the Perth Arena so I put in as a test that a King room with a view and a photo of Michael McIntrye in the room would be appreciated. All requests were fulfilled. All of the staff we encountered were very welcoming and happy to help.

The lounge is definitely quiet. Sunday night I was one of 10 people there from about 18:15 to 20:40. Never more than 5 guests at a time. Monday night brief visit 17:20 to 18:20 and basically the same.

But “sweeping views” is a bit of a stretch!

Some lounge pics:

The nice lounge attendant knew what was on offer drink wise but at no stage were labels or brands communicated to me. One guest did ask to see the bottle of the wine she was drinking and the attendant brought it out. I was offered another drink after 20:30 (maybe 20:35). Wasn’t named a last call. I suspect on quiet nights 9pm would be a common cutoff time.

I found the food pretty good, especially for a DT. One downside of the lounge being quiet is there was no need to restock just about anything. So by 8pm everything was looking a bit sad.

Monday night the hot items were curry puffs and lamb sausage rolls.

I had a good upgrade and 6pm checkout for $40 negotiated in advance but through the Hilton Parmelia! Probably could have just had it for free but decided to be safe and book it in advance to ensure I’d still have a room after a day in the city and then a late night flight.

On check-in I asked if I could have breakfast in the lounge or main restaurant. Was told either was fine. I didn’t read the letter properly until the next afternoon so innocently rocked up to the main restaurant and upon querying if I wanted to go to the lounge I let the attendant know I had been told to come here. So I wasn’t charged anything. Feel a bit guilty about that. Barista coffee and eggs made to order, as well as the usual hot and cold fare. $19 possibly worth it. But free definitely worth it.

I liked the place a lot. Good location, nice staff, modern rooms, good lounge.
