I am booking a flight to japan (fukuoka) with cathay pacific Sydney to hong kong then dragonair hong kong to fukuoka are they a good safe airline any experiences with them thanks oitaken

You'll be in good hands. Safe airline with a strong record. Very high training standard amongst the flight crew and part of the Cathay Pacific Group. There's growing commonality between the two, and in a few months they'll be trading as Cathay Dragon.

Fully owned subsidiary of Cathay. For the most part Cathay and Dragonair offer the same product (same seats, same service pattern). Cathay probably has the edge on IFE, Dragon has the edge on catering.

They're great, just like Cathay, only red. Use the Cathay lounges in HKG.

In summary and from what people have said here these days Cathay Dragon (Dragonair) is Cathay under another name.

Dragon is a 100% subsidary of Cathay, registered in Hong Kong. One of the safest of the Chinese carriers.
