Walking back you can see the difference in fire fuel from the recently burnt area to the other side. But in this area no part goes more than 10 years between burns.

The last of my walk.
1600948948940.jpeg.1600948993938.jpeg.

1600949012499.jpeg.

Then went cross country to Ashgrove cheeses.Disappointing.no cheeses tasting and much reduced variety of other Tassie foods.
As well Anvers chocolates closed for renovations.Has just opened this week.

For the second week I was on call for 5 of the days so I concentrated on experimenting. Most of the week It was miso marinated vegetables. Two different fresh misos with various additions.Usually rice wine vinegar, sake, soy sauce or mirin, garlic, ginger and instead of sugar I used Tassie leatherwood honey. Not all ingredients every time.

This one though I liked.

I went to Petuna seafoods in East Devonport for some seafood.Peter and Una Rockcliff have sold the business to the Kiwis.
But one night was honey and garlic scallops with the addition of a little sweet red miso.I don't worry about plating but they tasted real good.
1601115123727.jpeg.

Another night was miso marinated salmon and veggies.left in the marinade 12 hours.

I was planning to get out and do a few walks in the third week but Monday to Friday were wet and cold days.
Saturday I thought I maight make a trip to Strahan but it was going to rain all day so decided to stay locally.
As it had been a wet week I decided to walk from the Breakwater at the Mersey River heads to the Don Railway.just over 6KM each way but mostly on a sealed track. When I left my place at about 0930 the temp was 9.1 with a real feel of 1.1C.This was the reason.

1601199898157.jpeg.1601199922671.jpeg.

The track.
1601199952120.jpeg.

But they are working at upgrading the trail. So the first picture the sign says track closed detour to right. The second picture shows the crossing point is blocked off with a detour left.I crossed the rail line anyway.

Different types of bush.
1601200624672.jpeg.1601200646442.jpeg.

Now at this point I had reached the Aquatic centre which meant only 1.7 Km to go.The track had been well signposted but not here when you needed it.I didn't think the track would go through a car park but it did.On the river side there was a wide tack which i assumed was the correct one.It wasn't.OK at first with good flowers.
1601200835774.jpeg.1601200853456.jpeg.

My feeling that I was going the wrong way was confirmed when the Railcar went by heading in the wrong direction.
1601200942652.jpeg.1601200958307.jpeg.

I presumed there was another track closer to the river so struck out in that direction through a clearing. When I got to the river I could see the rail bridge again.
1601201099779.jpeg.1601201112859.jpeg.

I found a track heading in the right direction so off i went.
1601201254369.jpeg.1601201272305.jpeg.

1601201319496.jpeg.

Again I first spotted the common orchid leaves.
1601201364631.jpeg.

A little further on some greenhoods and another small species that had finished flowering.

1601201500917.jpeg.1601201520023.jpeg.

Then a problem presented itself. The track I was following ended at the railway line.About a Km ahead I could see the footbridge over the river so I though OK I'll just walk up the railway line. However as it narrowed I heard that whistle again.Well I had better get off the tracks.Turned to get to the side.My foot caught the rail and I planted my face into the stones.Slight graze to the lips, several lacerations on my right hand but a pain over the right side of the chest which was much worse on breathing in.Felt I might have broken a rib.
So I picked myself up,dusted myself off and kept on going. When I got to the Don Railway Depot I cleaned myself up and had an icecream. Then it was 6Km back to the car.Went really well and took an hour and 15 minutes. The chest was getting worse and very uncomfortable by night. But took 2 Advil PM that night and woke the next morning a lot better and could take a deep breath without too much pain.Did visit the hospital and got the lacerations fixed up plus a tetanus shot.

So to some of the pics I took. The camera wasn't working properly that afternoon so these are from the phone.Thesign on the bridge.

Are you sure they are snowdrops, galanthus nivalis, or snowflake, or perhaps onion weed?
