Did you notice the way they seem to harvest the bulbs? Looked to me that those raised beds are on large mats that I guess get lifted by machinery and shaken off?

I would have never thought of such a thing but you seem to be absolutely correct. This video shows the nets being pulled up and the bulbs harvested - from around 4:07

I then went to the viewpoint over Wynyard at the end of the road passing the tulip farm.

That is fossil bluff and this is Wynyard and BWT.

They have now built a path between here and the Table Cape lighthouse. There are views over the tulip farm at some points.

Had lunch in Burnie at Fish on the Edge at Wivenhoe.Reasonable seafood and lovely staff.I had 2 entrees that they combined on 1 plate.a side of sweet potato fries. washed down with a cider.Crumbed scallops and spicy crumbed calamari.

As I left a timber ship was leaving.

Then went and walked around Blythe Heads.A little later the little penguins will come ashore here.A nice area with a park, playgrounds and facilities.

Lots of lovely rocks on the northern coast of Tassie.

Liar! They are the worst type of rocks and a miserable place for this and all students. 🤬.

The rocks up there are very old, and horribly deformed - folded every which way, over multiple phases. Squeezed and stretched and tossed around like nobody's business. The ideal place of a Structural Geology field exam. 🤬🤬🤬 which involves a particularly sadistic form of paperwork called 'stereonet analysis' - like this (shiver) https://www.eps.mcgill.ca/~courses/c240/Wk9_L1.pdf

What can be difficult about drawing a line?

All structural geologists are charlatans. I need a drink.

You would have to have rocks in your head ..... :)

My 5th week in Tassie was once again wet so my thoughts turned to food rather than exercise.I did sample a Crusty's scallop pie from Burnie and it wasn't bad.pastry a little thick and the sauce very mild but 8 nice sized scallops.

Scallops were on special this week so 3 nights they featured for dinner.First honey, ginger and soy scallops.I let them marinate for an hour cooked in the sauce then removed from the pan and reduced the sauce until a nice sticky consistency.rather nice. Then scallops back in for a minute.

Then I tried my own made up recipes.First some fresh red miso, some honey, garlic and sake with just a hint of chilli sauce.Nice.

Next miso, honey, garlic, rice wine vinegar, small amount sweet soy sauce and a little more chilli sauce.my favourite.

Of course I needed something to wash it down so some tassie pinot noirs.
