Dubai Connect

ok, understand, I recall someone saying earlier in the thread that it shouldnt matter if there is another better flight however if its only avaiable via cash and not rewards, it shouldnt matter,
once again, it goes back to my point that the T/Cs are vague

if it must be the best connection flight avaialbe via points and cash combined, then im fine with that,

I cant see my flights being booked out for cash for another 6-9 months so I guess I can try again if I had booked these flights

EK F on the 777 ain't that bad. And you'll have the A380 for one sector. Four hours is also pretty goof to enjoy the lounges. You have an almost perfect itinerary at the moment.

yes its pretty good, as I said previously im just being a bit picky and trying to learn the system and how it works,

very happy at the moment!
I wouldnt mind squeezing in a day in dubai as well :) but im just bein a bit greedy

also its a firs world problem but this trip is going to be signficant birthday and possibly the trip of a lifetime, so I do want to go all out on it

the only other big flight I can think of is doing the RTW in F or J, possilby in 2021

that will be another huge planning event too :)

its 24 hours later and ive tried a few times but still get the msg of

in QFF manage my booking
Am I doing it wrong, or is it just not meant to be?

As a additional data point,

I have also booked EK 383 + EK 103. Dubai connect shows up on my QF MMB, and my request went through - and I got an e-mail confirming Dubai Connect.

Nothing showing on the EK MMB page.

I doubt I'll be eligible for the hotel when checking in, but not too fussed either way. Did your request go through SOPOOR?

My last Dubai Connect (QF award booking) did not show on EK MMB but was confirmed as lodged on check in and all went smoothly in Dubai

Hi kelvedon! Thanks for your response.

Did you have eligible flights (ie, no other shorter connection possible)? On my itin, it's clear that I could have taken EK387, EK103 (4 hour layover), but I wanted a longer layover to visit a colleague in the AM.

No, from memory there was a quicker (reward) connection available at the time of booking, but maybe that wasn’t showing available when I subsequently booked the Dubai connect. I don’t know how they police that .

I can comfirm Dubai connect is available on QF award J tickets provided your connecting flight is the next connection. I have 2 emirates flights as part of a 6 flight classic reward HKG-DXB-CPH and Dubai coonect was able tobe booked via Qantas manage my booking page.

Did you get a hotel on arrival in DXB?

I'm not disputing whether one can book Dubai Connect via QF MMB, rather it's whether they actually give you a hotel room, despite flights with better connection times/earlier available connecting flights.

I havent taken the trip yet, but in my case i am definitely on the best connection as there is only 1 flight from dxb to cph per day.

Yes for me (j reward). Nothing showing on EK MMB but chauffeur to hotel and back.

If it’s booked and confirmed you’re not going to turn up at the hotel to find they’ve reviewed your itinerary and kicked you out :)

If you can book it, you’ll get it.

There can be quite a bit of discrepancy between the EK site and QF site, which is not altogether bad for the passenger. Book on whichever site lets you :)

I got it flying Budapest - Dubai - Melbourne this year on a QF codeshare.

Have someone doing similar (BUD-DXB-BNE) soon with a very long connection. Tried looking on EK's Manage My Booking, but nothing is showing up for Dubai Connect. Is it best to just ask a check-in in BUD? Ticket was purchased using cash, all EK flight numbers.

I was flying business. I would call prior as has to be organised prior.

I think the connection is 10 or 12 hours, flying in Y (probably cheapest bucket).
Dubai connect is avalable when the best connection time is more than 8 hours in Y. A quick look on the Emirates website for a random date in November shows the fastest connection is over 10 hours, so Dubai connect should be available, regardless of fare bucket. Suggest your friend contacts Emirates to arrange it.

**Update**

Here is the segment in question

Called EK help desk

Ticket needs to meet 3 criteria to get Dubai Connect Hotel
1) Connection Time (8+ hours for Y fare)
2) There is no better connection available
3) Fare must be more than $1200 USD

Passenger criteria -
1) Connection time is fine
2) No other shorter connection available, so it satisfies this rule
3) Passenger fare is $1060 USD. Does not meet the minimum $1200 USD criteria

No go on the hotel
