1150am ie T-4hrs

That's a long trip in Y. Love for the lounge aside, do you really want to add 4 hours to the trip??

We have done the trip in Y several times, and enjoy our prep in the J Lounge. But I have generally found that with checked luggage they start 3hrs before?

The official word from qantas is 4 hours.

I was previously told by the checkin staff at Sydney airport that for long haul flights to the US and Europe that checkin opens at T -4hrs; otherwise it is T -3hrs.

This is another area where we never seem to be sure of what IS QANTAS policy. I had to queue and wait for checkin to open for QF1 last year, until the 3hr limit (I posted elsewhere about how it ticked of someone "famous" that when the counter did open, they took me before her). Of course never having been booked into F, I don't know what might happen there. But the J/QP counter certainly didn't want to know about it before the 3 hr limit. I have looked at the QF website and it says 3hrs forinternational Qantas operated services at non-Australian international airports, but I can't see where it mentions say SYD T1: International Check-in Times | Qantas

This is exactly what I've been told by the staff at F check-in SYD

Actually, it's 3 hours:

International Check-in Times | Qantas

I believe F checkin opens 4 hours in advance though.

At non-Australian international ports. Which wouldn't include Sydney.

Check-in for international Qantas operated services at non-Australian international airports.

I've also been told 4 hours, and made to wait until T-4 but only at the F check in desk.

The SYD T1 airport guide is silent on the earliest check in question. http://www.qantas.com.au/travel/airlines/airport-guide-sydney-international-terminal1/global/en
