Earning QF status credits with Finnair

Don’t suppose anyone knows the answer to this one?

If it’s AY marketed and QF operated, you’ll earn points and status credits at the (reduced) partner rate.

If AY marketed and operated by JQ, I’m not sure you’d earn anything in QFF. Certainly no status credits as JQ is not in oneworld.

Hi all, my partner and I have booked a return flight to Helsinki via Singapore with Finnair,
A question if I may, as I've been scratching my head ever since at how this the earning potential works. These are the figures taken from the Qantas booking page.

Our Flight Itinerary for the initial trip over.

MEL > SIN - Will earn 15 Status Credits and 2000 Frequent Flyer Points CLASS L (Economy)
SIN > HEL Will earn 6300 Frequently flyer points only - CLASS P (Premium Economy)
HEL > VIE Will earn 30 Status Credits and 1100 Frequent Flyer Points CLASS Y (Economy)

According to the earnings table, P Class should earn both points and status credits, yet i can see us only earning 6300 frequent flyer points.

Is this worth while chasing up with Qantas after we've flown?

Yes, AY P class is an eligible “Premium Economy” as per the QF tables.

Strange the calc doesn’t recognise AY PE however between SIN-HEL (it does for the QF codeshare) but I’d be confident it credits correctly (just keep your eTicket and BPs until they do).

UPDATE: I called QANTAS QFF Team, queried the rejection, and the representative was able to manually process the points and SC credits to my account.

I have just flown Finnair from Helsinki to Oslo AY0917, Business Flex Class (class I), paid flight, with my QF FF number on my booking, and QANTAS has rejected my claim for points and SC. "The claim you made for missing Qantas Points submitted on 25-Jan-2025 has been processed but was UNSUCCESSFUL - AIRFARE AND BOOKING CLASS NOT ELIGIBLE TO EARN".
Is that correct?

Not correct. I class is an eligible AY booking class according to QFF.

We were concerned to read about @scott.in.the.clouds' experience, so we contacted Qantas and asked them to look into this.

It turns out that @scott.in.the.clouds was indeed entitled to points and status credits, as we all thought, but Qantas hadn't updated its systems since Finnair began selling QR codeshare flights in the AY6001-6999 flight number range.

Qantas has since updated its systems and credited the OP with the correct points and status credits. So, hopefully this won't catch anyone else out in the future!

Details here:

Hello, and thanks for this thread. I was wondering if anyone has had experience of points and status being automatically credited since this issue with the AY6001-6999 flights was "fixed"? I have just booked AY business class flights for May flying MEL-LHR (via SIN and HEL) over and BER - SYD (via HEL and DOH) back. The DOH - SYD flight is AY6651.

The "my bookings" section of the QFF website shows the points and status credits to be earned for the MEL-LHR but nothing for the return BER - SYD (just notes that will be credited "if applicable"). The points calculator on the QFF website also doesn't show any option for an AY earn for HEL-DOH or DOH-SYD (just QR).

I'm hoping this is just an issue with updating the website - would just like to avoid having to chase for the flights to be credited when I get back.

Thanks

My experience last year flying SYD-HEL via HND on JAL/AY, with JAL as the ticketer: flying SYD-HND on JAL metal, but HND-HEL on AY metal, and with QFF number across the booking, my points and SC for second leg had been credited to my QFF before the plane had even landed in HEL!!
So it may just be that AY are slow to process if they are the ticketer, or in this case, JAL are super-efficient, or maybe directly-booked AY ticketed flights struggle to engage with QFF as was my experience this year, as noted above. It took a manual QFF intervention to get the points and SC credited, as the automated system had erroniously said "no" twice for different reasons.
