Hey, leave me somewhere to go to get my EDR points fix :D - Albany Creek might be safe from you...

Umm, I did them on opening this morning (had to pop into Europcar anyway) and they have very little pet food, bit over Tacos!

The RSPCA will be getting a visit, Chermside updated overnight

As I'm on hols, and a bit bored, I decided to look into this thread, having never read it before! My quick perusal of the thread suggests you guys are buying ?select products whether you need them or not for the bonus QF points...I saw one section where people were buying cans of cat food when they don't even have a cat:confused::confused:....so what thesholds are you guys using eg <$0.01 per QF point for items you don't need, <$0.02 per QF point for items you need?

Are the select products targetted or anyone can buy them, and how do you find the select products apart from visiting your Woolies store? I'm a Coles man, and stopped going to Woolies when I used up my Dick Smith Wish Gift cards!

You have until tomorrow to buy Select products and get 50 QFF for every 2, given the cat and dog food can be donated to charity and a tax deduction claimed, the 69c per 25 points soon gets closer to 35c per 25 points at top bracket plus medicare flood levies etc

35c per 25QF points is still 1.4c per QF point...seems not a great rate and a lot of effort to buy multiple cans of cat / dog food, and then lug it to the nearest RSPCA....do you then ask the PSPCA for a receipt for the cans for tax purposes??

OK...found thsi link which explains it a bit more...http://woolworths.com.au/wps/wcm/connect/Website/Woolworths/Prices/Promotions/selectbonuspoints

Depends on what value you get out of those points of course, with double SCs every point counts, $336 effective cost for a JASA thats worth 280 SC and also returns close to 10000 points with the loyalty bonus prorated, which brings the true cost down to $196 for that 280 SC.

Fair enough I guess if using the QF points for a Tsv-Bne-Drw JASA. For now, I probably will stick to products that I need tho...

Transpacific I can get JASA's for > 10¢ per point value. ;)

So another 2 shops today

1. 56 Items purchased all Select items.. Soups that were on sale, and lots of dressings, marinades and of course Taco Seasoning!!!

56 items at $104.55, I am getting double Qantas points this week
So 148 QFF
Then 1400 QFF

Total of 1548 all spent on food I will use over the next 6 months

2. 46 items at $54 all Select items, again taco seasoning, and some salsas, again double FF points
So 48 QFF
Then 1150 QFF

So a days shopping for 2550 QFF plus I am using the dick smith gifts cards still

Tomorrow is jelly day :)

Probably like many of you, I had Mexican for dinner this evening :) Unfortunately I can't really recommend the Select Refried Beans, and even more unfortunately I have a few more tins of them in the pantry :( Hopefully some of the other products are more enjoyable.

Wandered past my local Woolies this evening....bought 12 select products - there will be a Mexican theme to the meals at our household this week. Could not bring myself to buy cat food tho,,,

I'd go so far as to say I don't see any need for re-fried beans in any Mexican food. I used it both individually as well as mixing it with the taco sauce-infused mince; certainly is better than keeping it separate. Try adding sour cream and avocado with some chunky tomato or salsa. Don't forget done grated mozzarella...

Thanks for the recipe suggestions LW :) I generally enjoy frioles in mexican cuisine, but didn't enjoy the select offering. I did mix it with some of the salsa, and had them in a burrito with cheese and sour cream. Oh, well, at least I got some QFF points for my trouble.

Better off with Tasty Cheese. Mozzarella has little flavour and its main use in pizza and lasagna is its stretchability.

Less than a week on Select products and I'm over it :o

Looking forward to the next promo already

I did leave two boxes of the Cat treats on clearance for $.59 at Spring Hill for you, they are not marked as being discounted (the purple ones, not lime green). Did a quick shop this morning of things I needed including spray cooking oil, tomato paste etc, it was interesting to note they had no stock of the sauces & jellies, and cat food!

I was once given a recipe for a decent mexican dip. It was a layered dip with refried beans on the bottom. Avocado, taco seasoning (about half a packet), lemon juice and something else, which I can't remember, but it was white, not sour cream and had a tangy sort of taste and was a bit unexpected maybe mayo. Of course sour cream would be a suitable substitute. The top layer was sour cream also mixed with the rest of the taco seasoning. Cheese sprinkled on top serve with corn chips (plain are good)

Definitely not my recipe but amazing.

Probably a mexican white cheese source!

There are heaps of different recipes for Mexican layered dips, some use creme fraiche which is similar to sour cream but is thinner, has a similar taste to sour cream but is more tangy, some recipes use mayo as well ,or instead of sour cream or creme fraiche, lime juice is also a
good substitute for lemon juice.
I've got a recipe for a 7 layer version,PM me if you want it.
Cheers
N'oz
