EK have announced further cuts to flights to Australia.

DXB-PER will drop to a single daily flight from 31MAR19 (with the 380 at least) and the daily DXB-BKK-SYD flight will also be dropped from 31MAY19.

It was not that long ago when EK operated three daily flights DXB-PER. Interesting how government interference can effect the market place ($14M+ in QF subsidies?).

Emirates S19 service changes as of 12JAN19

(Edit: This could be a Travel News item, mods please move if more appropriate)

I’m struggling to sort out an award on EK and am finding they consistently route me through anywhere but Adelaide. I wonder if that’s being slashed too.

Excess capacity out of PER/SYD on the contrary?

Very sad to see this SYD-BKK option go.

feel the same, it was the only reason i collected qantas points as the wife's family live in Thailand and was easy to get award seats. now i think i will start collecting Velocity and Kris flyer instead.

hopefully i can find something to use my 500,000 QF points on.

Etihad jumped out of Perth too. The effect of QR dumping an A380 and seemingly filling it at cheap prices cannot be overestimated.

Though I will say that QF9/10 would have had the most significant impact given the number of expats and visitors in and out of WA from the UK.

Be interested to see the competitor response should QF kick off a PER-CDG run.

QR seems to have a bottomless bank account so EK might jump down to a 777. Might see EK pull back in BNE.

Coupled with Thai's cancellation of TG471/472 last year, that's a huge reduction in capacity on the route.

It’s odd because the QF Syd-Bkk is so busy (now to be even more so). Perhaps we will see this upgauged at some point.

I agree, that's a lot of capacity being cut on this route. Down from 1x A380, 2x 747s and 1x A330 each day to 1x 747 and 1x A330 in a matter of months. You would have to think there would be scope for Qantas to put a larger aircraft on the route from June.

I moved to BKK with 1.3m QF points, guess I will not be using them anytime soon. As the only availability is normally EK.

I am booked MEL - BKK via SYD in F (obviously only F on the SYD to BKK leg) on the 7th June. It was booked with QFF points.
Obviously will not be able to take that flight anymore.
I rang the Qantas call centre and they told me to wait until the computer system automatically generates an alternative routing, which should occure in a couple of days.

I am wondering what people’s thoughts are on a suitable alternative?

MEL - SIN on QF35 in F, and then SIN to BKK in Jetstar Asia??

I was really looking forward to trying the Emirates First product.
When I booked last year it was on the A380, then it got downgraded to the 777, and now it’s cancelled!!
These things happen I guess..
Hopefully QF can find a flight for us.
