EK Lounge General Discussion

What's the public area like?
Busy.
Any places to hang out that you would recommend?
The DXB lounge, it is very large so a quiet area at that.
Or maybe one of those 'generic' lounges (with fewer people) that I could use with a Qantas Gold membership?
Qantas Gold = oneworld Sapphire and would only be applicable if you're flying out of DXB with a oneworld airline. EK isn't a member of oneworld so you wouldn't be able to use any of the oneworld lounges with your QF Gold membership.
Or happy to pay for access.
Wouldn't recommend this option if you already have some form of lounge access, especially at DXB where the EK lounge will be the best of them all.

Thanks for the feedback.
I only asked as the DXB lounge whilst large, was so full when I was there, it was hard to even find a seat, let alone a quiet area.
Maybe it is not normally that busy.............

I guess there are 3 different business class Emirates lounges at DXB, one in each concourse. You could perhaps experiment and pick one that is quieter?

DXB has 7 EK lounges, if one is too busy just walk down a few gates and try to get into that one. Although gate agents can be forceful in restricting access to the lounge closest to gate of your departure. Priority Pass will also give you access to many lounges.

The rest of the terminal is a more like a bus station.

If you can access A concourse lounge then this is never really busy, given it is so huge.

It sounds like you were at one of the smaller lounges (perhaps C) which are smaller (like the size of Qantas Perth Transit lounge) and can get busy...

Which concourse?
I wouldn't have a record of that sorry.
But I take the point.
There are many lounges!

I'll try to check. Though it was huge........
Think Q Club Sydney x 3 at least

Did have direct boarding gate access from the lounge? That’s the A Gate lounge. Massive and the one to aim for if possible - even if not departing from the A Gates. Just allow plenty of time to get to your actual gate.

DXB . . ..

The rest of the terminal is a more like a bus station.
On my only transit there some years ago, I sought quiet in the Prayer Room, only to find it occupied by a bunch of women chattering as they changed their babies' nappies.

It was probably that one.
Had direct access down a lift to the boarding gate.
Very big Business Lounge.
2 large buffet areas, other speciality food areas, 5-6 separate seating areas, some with dining tables.
Capacity of many hundreds of people I would guess.
And it was packed!

Hello
Can anyone tell me if I am booked on Emirates flight (QF codes) in business am I able to bring a guest (who is travelling in economy on the same flight) into the lounge with me? Currently QF gold but will lose if before this upcoming flight so can't fall back on that option.

I think not. I cannot find anything that indicates a yes to class of service guesting when in Business Class.

Im thinking of flying in Emirates in the following sectors:
1. Aus to Dubai first
2. Dubai to China business

What are the chances I would be allowed into the first class lounge in dubai? since my onwards ticket is in business class?

Never hurts to ask, but Emirates bases your access on your onward departing flight, regardless of connections. You could still go in if you had Platinum with Skywards or Qantas, if somebody guested you in, or if you paid. Rates are on the Emirates website. If you technically qualify for the business class lounge through status (or likely even Qantas Club), you can pay a reduced 'upgrade fee' to use the first class lounge rather than business class. Otherwise, paying for the first class lounge is pretty pricey.

I'll be flying through DXB on the 30th Dec and again on the 19th Jan with my partner. I have QF Plat and she has QF Gold. Unfortunately on both occasions we'll be on the same incoming flight but different outbound (all EK metal). So am I correct in thinking I won't be able to guest her into the First Lounge?
In which case I guess I'll go to the Lounge meetups thread and see if I can arrange a mutual guesting with someone (any suggestions for other place to try for this?).

An added complication can be the terminal gates for the two flights. My last two visits/departures in volved A, B & C Gates, and therefore 3 different lounges.

If you have the time, it would not hurt to pleasantly ask; at worst they will deny First entry and pleasantly refer you to the Business lounge(s) - at best they will allow you in.

I can’t seem to find any information reported on this (maybe it was obvious and I missed it). It appears the emirates lounge in BKK is permanently closed. I was only here a couple months ago and it was fine. All the signs for the lounge are blacked out across the airport and the lounge is closed. Had a peak through the window. Furniture still there but can tell it’s not looking like it will be open again soon. Does anyone know why?
