Hi,

I booked a flight a few months back, HK to BNE through a popular travel agency. Today, I get an email from a different travel company, with my travel details. The email was from - " Travel Document <[email protected]>"

I have heard of amadeus on here before. Why are they sending me this when I already have confirmation from my travel agent?

Thanks.

It could be the airline sending it? Have you been into the Manage My Booking online recently? Which airline is it?

It is a Cathay Pacific flight, booked using points. I checked my booking, and they have separated my wife and I. I will ring them today.

Thanks.

Amadeus are a reputable company - they basically handle the logistics of ticketing for a good majority of airlines.

Now, I'm curious - what did it say? Was it a fraud email asking you to pay X, click this link, etc ? Or just a general update email?

Rang Qantas. I was bumped 1 row back, hence the email. All good, thanks for the input from everyone.

Just curious how did you make your original seat request? Direct through Cathay's manage booking function or via Qantas?

I booked through Qantas website.

Appreciate you booked through Qantas, but how did you make your seat selection? After booking you can go direct to the CX website and select your seats. (I've never had a seat change doing it via CX. But this is not the first time I've heard of seats being changed if reserved via another airline's website.)

When 2 different airlines use the same GDS/booking system (such as amadeus), the booking reference/PNR is the same for both airlines. QF and CX (and most of oneworld) use Amadeus. You can use the same PNR (that you use to log in to manage my booking on the QF site) to log in to the booking on the CX site.

It is usually a good idea to select seats (where possible) on the operating carriers website. The selections are more likely to 'stick'.
