Rdm aside, just checked into EK404. No dice for airport cash upgrade J-F with a QFF awards booking. F only has 1 occupant in it (my partner).

They usually let you, ask on the plane/ in the lounge (usually they will ask cash or EK miles)

My brother in law asked on the plane (booked in J on QFF reward seat) but usually its like USD $2k pp

Check in said no. I believe it's because its QF ticket stock and not EK.

$1950 USD onboard for J > F.

Probably pass on that.

On topic, I'm guessing my flight is a good indicator of how busy it is and why EK is looking to cancel. 1 pax in F, 9 in J and a pretty empty Y as well (the holding area had only 50~ pax by the looks of it).

On the flip side, my wifi is reasonable faster than a full load.

are you ex MEL or ex SIN?

No wonder why EK wants to cancel this portion. They'll be almost certainly running at a loss with this loading.

This, on a daytime flight from SIN to MEL too.

Release more reward seats with QFF in F & J?

Yeh meanwhile SQ is blasting 4-5 flights a day each to MEL and SYD and they're all generally relatively full.

Sadly they dont. Ive been watching since i wanted to upgrade and also i wanted to book a one way MEL - SIN on EK later too.

Same for the SIN BNE flights before they cancelled them, not attractive for the locals and three hop from Europe vs two with SQ and QF

I would add cost to the three legs. The SIN-DXB-EU components are so much cheaper than starting in MEL.

This was exactly what I was looking / hoping for, for my early Jan flight back home, but alas, only cash seats were available.

Settled for a cash QF SIN-MEL seat instead with an upgrade to business request.

I wonder if they are running any of the new 777’s on this route before it’s cancelled.
Highly doubt it, they would run it on their profitable legs where people pay for F

Routes with the game changer 777-300ER are all ex. Dubai
  • Brussels
  • Geneva
  • Zurich
  • Tokyo Haneda
  • Riyadh
  • London Heathrow

Below is the list of known registration codes for the 777's fitted with the game changer
  • A6-EQI
  • A6-EQO
  • A6-EQJ
  • A6-EQK
  • A6-EQM
  • A6-EQN
  • A6-EQP
  • A6-EQL
  • A6-EQH
