Emirates Cancels Singapore to Melbourne Flights from 30/3/25

So you think Qantas would make no effort to rebook an alternative same day as classic reward on their own plane? I would have thought there was an obligation given it is via Qantas FF that they try and provide an alternative. But i dont hold out much hope for a business class replacement i think at best it would be economy same day.
QF have no obligation to accommodate you on their own aircraft.
I’m willing to bet that your points are simply refunded

my question still remains, when EK cancelled the BNE - SIN route how long did they keep it running for?

I guess you dont have much to lose in terms of points or $, except for the inconvenience and accomodation if booked

Thankfully i used all my emirates miles recently, but ive got Qff points that im hoping to be able to use on emirates without the gouged taxes

Im hoping/dreaming that i can find a long haul flight with emirates in the future

DXB-BKK is only about $600 in carrier charges and taxes which is pretty good for F

Sad to see this go, they are a good competitor to have on fifth freedom routes and I was always a bit disappointed Sydney didn't get a similar EK option.

Could have been an opportunity for them to do something innovative and swap out MEL with a smaller city, perhaps CBR or at a (huge) stretch somewhere like NTL. Oh well!

There was a interview by the CEO or top guy about a year ago, even was directly asked about the high taxes and his reply was in a nutshell, " people are happy to pay, therefore we dont care, our member numbers havent dropped"

And when could this determination happen?

No idea, but a quick search of the CCCS website suggest that the determination in 2019 for the removal of SIN-BNE took 2 months from EK's application, so early October if that holds true

I've got a couple of these in my upcoming bookings; one in a few weeks, which I'm confident will still go ahead, one in March which not so confident about. worse case they process the points and taxes refund and i find another way home, but i really loved those $90 F flights...

If I understand correctly, in 2019 when EK wanted to discontinue the SIN-BNE flights it was 2 months before the last flight, so if that stands true the last flight will be in October 2024?

In 2019 it went, Applied September, Approved November, Last flight scheduled March 2020
Ok that makes sense, so if they follow the same timeline it would look like they may have the last flight scheduled in March 2025?

It would make sense to continue the route over the busy holiday period, and to capture students returning to Australia for the start of the university year. Flights are often packed or oversold at uni times.

I have a flight on Emirates MEL-SIN 31st March booked in J on QF points. Thought I would ring QF customer service and see what they say. After consultation with a supervisor was told that Qantas would offer alternative flights, in Business as booked, or a refund if not suitable. Not sure if I believe this, but that is what was said. Guess it will be wait and see!

What happened with all the QFF awards booked on partner airlines right after covid, where there was a dedicated team/email for resolving those issues where the partner cancelled the flights?
I don't have personal experience but recall people were rebooked on other partner flights, in revenue classes, in some cases.

QFF just drop a seat in F on 13 September 2024

I had a JAL flight booked for Mel-nrt using Qantas points just after covid. That got cancelled and we weren't offered any alternatives. I pushed them to see if they will get me on the Qantas flights, but after several HUCA, they still told me they cant and refunded me.

I had gold status at that time with Qantas.
