Emirates Cancels Singapore to Melbourne Flights from 30/3/25

I've had the online rebooking tool rebook my MU MEL-PVG reward to EK MEL-DXB-PVG before, but it somehow issued an invalid ticket and nobody could work out how to fix it. I have my doubts about whether those options are actually valid even if the system presents it.

Im wondering if there’d actually be a fare filed for MEL-PVG via DXB? Same with SIN-MEL via DXB… would that fit within maximum permitted mileage (MPM), would there be a fare, and consequently would it be a valid routing?

I have seen ADL to KUL as ADL-DXB-KUL on QF Classic Rewards for about 155,000 points so maybe it is (this was recent)

EK ticket maybe - that would be up to EK to organise.

For a QF codeshare, routing via DXB doesn’t seem to be an option. The option is to MEL, or it seem for F, to SYD with an inward connection.

If you were forking out cash, would you be routing via DXB, or simply take the QF or even SQ options? (the latter via a refund of the EK flight).
I mean if I was in F, I would personally want to spend as much time as I can enjoying the wines and service but in J probably would want to get home as direct as possible.

Typically I wouldn't want to go via SYD and have the inward connection to MEL but want the wife to experience F in QF for the first time.

I had business reward Singapore -> Dubai -> London (Stansted). They've rebooked my Singapore -> Dubai with no issues but couldn't find another dubai -> stansted connection for that day so they are trying to reroute via heathrow. The booking in my app has been update with the new flight in business but it also says waitlisted instead of confirmed. Apparently they are waiting for emirates to confirm the change since there's no more available rewards seats in that fare. But they also said emirates should be covering the difference since they're the ones that cancelled the flight, causing me to miss my connection.

I thought the new SIN-DXB flights were scheduled to depart at the same time as the original

It's an hour later now and my connection time was already cutting it so this change now is shorter than the minimum.
Oh I see... Hopefully LHR or LGW will end up being more convenient for you?

This is 100% an EK issue, and you should be enforcing the contract of carriage, which applies to your ticket. That says EK will re-route you.

Of course QF has to reissue the ticket, but EK needs to abide by their own contract!

yah initially they were offering a rebook on the QF service but wasn't keen on the 15 hour flight so pushed for a reroute. We've found a LHR one and its appearing in my online booking system but not confirmed by emirates apparently..

Yeah so frustrating i've spoken to them on the phone too and they keep throwing it back to Qantas as the tickets issued by them meanwhile Qantas keep saying emirates need to approve the request. Honestly such a mess.

Yeah… EK is doing the ‘go back to your agent’ thing. Which is 2024 is outdated. At least for things like this.

EK should come through.

Guys, my EK award flight was rebooked to QF metal on S booking class (economy) - just wondering if it’s an error or I am entitled to accrue points on this rebooked ticket?

What would an agent offer? Just a refund? Unless they can source a fare within the original dollar amount on someone else?

I have not dealt with an agent for 20 years.

This is historical from the days when bricks-and-mortar agents sold tickets… often with discounts as they cut their commissions to varying degrees. So airlines would always refer you back to the agent.

These days there needs to be more ownership by airlines in cases like schedule changes. There’s no reason why they can’t add a segment for the agent to ticket.

In this case the agent - qantas - will have to contact EK to get EK to add a new flight. It just adds an unnecessary step to the process for experienced FFers.

Based on the rules posted, you were probably booked on the lowest class available in the same cabin so not a mistake.

In terms of earning points - On an airline other than the ticketing one, in my experience you probably would, but an 081 ticket on QF metal, I think they’ll work it out and award nothing.

Yeah - redeemed on EK metal using QF points (economy) and now rebooked with QF metal on a revenue fare under ‘S’. Let’s see how this turns out - some miles would be good but then redeeming on EK requires more miles than QF
