I think I've just thought of a way to make lots of money-I'll start up an intenet forum for people who want to read stories about Qantas engine failures and comment on them,I'll call it Morons.Com ......

Looks like morons.com is available...

INSTITUTE FOR MORONIC BEHAVIOUR STUDIES
:) maybe I should send them an email suggesting that they conduct a study into the moronic behaviour of some No News readers.

I'd still really prefer this to be happening to some other airline other than qantas... I bet the same things going to happen when the 787's start as well... and the way the world karma is flowing at the moment it's going to the QF 787's that suffer... ><

they really can't catch a break...

debating whether or not I'll stick with them on the way to the US this april...

It depends upon the fare. QF to DFW for $1030 is pretty good.

When an Air NZ Gold Elite can confirm a "Standby" upgrade from any booked NZ flight with a higher class, it does make things interesting. ;)

I just don't know why QF puts up with it ,I bet if VS in the UK was getting this sort of treatment Richard Branson would be on the phone to fleet street quick smart.:!:

It does happen to airlines other than Qantas. It's just that the media chooses not to report such things. For example, Lufthansa had an in flight shutdown on 15 Jan, Air Canada had a rejected takeoff on 7 Jan etc etc.

Qantas needs to get petty and start revoking a few Chairman's Lounge memberships.

But the Lufthansa issue would have been reported in Germany right? and the Air Canada report in North America?

I guess QF is most relevant to Australians so it keeps getting coverage here. I would be upset if V Australia, Air NZ, Tiger etc kept having issues and weren't reported to the Aus public.

Almost certainly not. Major events yes, but these fall into the category of trivia amongst the day to day operations.

Perhaps you should get upset. The reporting is extremely unbalanced.

...or bump news ltd staff onto other carriers

Funny how News Ltd still have Qantas as their preferred carrier......

Then be upset because that is what happens.

On the exact same day Qantas had an engine failure on the groung, Virgin had the exact same incident. Now neither were really news worthy! But no prizes for guessing who gets the 'near death' no news treatment and who doesn't even get reported.

Virgin had an emergency landing and brake failure a year or so back which would have been front page news and lead story on Sky for a month had it been Qantas - barely got a mention.

But nothing new really hey!
