Enhanced GHA DISCOVERY program, coming early Dec 2021

Thought I would give GHA a try and did a “mattress run” across Vietnam and Thailand and am now a freshly minted Titanium member until December 2023
All stays credited within 24hrs of checking out and tier status in app also changed promptly.
“Stayed” one night at each of the following
- Pan Pacific Hanoi $141
- Parkroyal Saigon $106
- Avani Atrium Bangkok $61

So for an outlay of $308 I reached Titanium and have a stay at a Mysk property upcoming so keen to see how the status is recognised.
More importantly I think it will come in handy for Europe next year especially some Kempinski properties that look very appealing

I had a great experience at Kempinski in Germany (Munich, I think) as a GHA Platinum, some years ago... good upgrade and lots of goodies (incl. my favourite hefeweizen!) left as a welcome amenity. Hopefully you'll get even better with the top rung status.

Cheers,
Matt.

Looks like Discovery are extending status, received this today.

Received this as well. Also noticed my PGR black did not drop either as not all my stays where paid and did not think they where extending.
So with Hilton also extending I am so glad I did not bother to pursue in trying to maintain them last year. Although with current hotel prices I can see why they would want to encourage people to stay.

Interesting as since Jan 1st my status is showing up as being Titanium to 12/24 🤷
Nice - I already had Ti status to the end of 2023 through a promo last year, and mine hasn't had anything extra added. Hoping it may yet happen. Did you have any / many stays in 2022?

Only 7 nights. New to the program and did an Asia mattress run of 3 nights in October which elevated me to Titanium and then stayed 4 nights at Mysk Al Badayer. When I opened my app on Jan 1st it had the expiry date of 12/24 so who knows what they are doing.
I’ll stay at a few more this year

As a bit of a backstory when Pan Pacific took over from the Hilton in the Docklands the Pan Pacific Regional Manager was present and he comped a number of guests to Discovery Black. Not sure what he did but for a number of years many retained black status without having to stay the required number of nights, sometimes I only managed up to 5 nights in the year and my status remained unchanged. I think the last time I stayed at one of their properties was Feb 19. When this thread started I figured that during any revamp my ongoing membership may fall back inline with the normal program. I slipped through the cracks for a few years but knew it would most likely come to an end at some point, anyway it was good why it lasted. Based on brand stay rules it should be pretty easy to maintain through to 2024..

Interested to see how people are going with their GHA discovery tiers and if there has been any issues with hotels honouring your tier benefits?

Still got Titanium until end of the year and will retain it. Don’t use them a lot but have always found the ones I’ve stayed at honour benefits but can be inconsistent in quality/quantity of benefits

Pan Pacific and Park Royal are always perfect with all advertised benefits.

OAKS is a mixed bag most of the time do not get the advertised benefits but the brand stay is recogninsed on my account.

I retain Titanium every year by staying 3 brands each year.

Usually Pan Pacific Perth
Park Royal in either Sydney melbourne or Singapore
A Random OAKS somewhere.

I thought you were able to use D$ for dining at hotels without stays and had pulled this off in the early days but Pan Pacfic Perth are refusing to redeem D$ for dining without a stay, but did highlight to me I can get 25% titanium dining discount without a stay (i thought that 25% off was only with a stay!)

I’ll have to check that out.
Good to see they are slowly rolling out breakfasts for Titanium’s too, hopefully all get on board eventually

Is Pan Pacific still offering Pacific Club access for GHA Titanium? They used to for GHA Black. Great value for Pan Pacific Singapore in a standard room on a higher floor.

With Pan Pacific Perth they definitely do NOT provide club access for titanium.
Even if you get room upgrade to "Club type" room you don't get club access but they may offer to pay an extra ~$50 or so per person to get club access.

Park Royal on beach road Singapore however I got upgraded to a club room which did included Club access in the evenings for the spread, but as no breakfast served in the club there was no comp breakfast even though "club room" types listed on their website as including breakfast. their excuse was that I was upgraded to the room so didn't deserve the breakfast benefit. (Lesson here is to just book a with breakfast package and then get the upgrade to the club room as titanium - if the same can be repeated again haha)

OK - that's unfortunate. Could be when the rules around earning changed, such that as little as 3 nights could get you to highest tier, they pulled back on that offering. As a [former] GHA Black member at Pan Pacific Singapore, it used to be you could get a double upgrade, the Pacific Club access as your 'local amenity', early check in and late check out, often 'til as late as 6PM. Those were the days! :)

Cheers,
Matt.

I do exactly the same hotels to retain Titanium☺️

Oaks Suites on Collins Melbourne
- able to use Discovery $ to pay without issue
- no upgrade as a Platinum
- welcome gift in room of white wine and box of goodies

Email today being able to buy D$ Discovery Dollars

Up until 31st August there is a 15% discount for Titanium Members.
(10% for regular, 12% for gold and 14% for Platinum)

D$ purchased last for 2 years.

I have a stay coming up at Pan Pacific Perth so purchased some D$ today to top up my balance to be able to pay the account in full with D$. Appeared in the account instantly.

As a Titanium member get 7% D$ back when paying with real dollars after a hotel stay, so I liken this to an additional 8% discount.

Have in my calendar to buy some more D$ before OAKS stay early August and will also plan to top up a bit (but not excessively) before the 15% discount ends end of August.

I already had an account with USD in it so it tracks 1 USD > 1 D$ so was a no brainer for me.

Will be very curious if there is an ongoing discount past 31st August.
