I successfully registered and have a Chartered Accountants Gold Card. The card has a deal on it that if you spend over $10,000 on the card within the calendar year, you earn 1.5 points per dollar spent for the remainder of the calendar year instead of just 1. This feature is going to end on 31 March 2009.

This supports MelUser's statement that it is targetted to those who are subject to amex imposed points per dollar decrease.

Not if a person who is not subject to Amex imposed points per dollar decrease is also targetted for the same promotion.

We do not know the criteria used by Amex for this promotion or any other promotion unless an Amex employee releases those details....

I understand that all industry type AMEX cards eg:

Australian Medical Association
Law Society

etc etc

are losing their bonus points from midnight 31 March 2009 and revert to 1:1 from 1 April 2009.

This promotion is to keep those people using their AMEX cards.

It seems to be targetted to those who are subject to an amex imposed points per dollar decrease from midnight on 30 march 2009.

Nope. I have a maximiser, dropping from 1.5pts to 1.25pts after March 31 - could not register.

My husband has a charge card 1pt per dollar no change after March 31 - he is registered.

I spend more per month than he does and I have transferred points to Qantas in the past, he hasn't.
He gets targetted far more than I do and I don't like it.

Do you have inside information on this promotion? That cannot be the reason for this promotion as I do not fall in any of the categories mentioned and I have been targetted.

Not sure whether I was targetted but I have been trying to load the website all night without success. I suspect it is something to do with Windows Vista and/or 3 mobile broadband. I will try again at work tomorrow.

I could not get the link from the postcard to work either, however found that by using the following link, it redirects to the login and after you login a box pops up in the rewards section with the word accelerate already pre-populated. Then just one click and your are done!

As for points being reduced, I have not received any notification of a reduction from my current 1.5 on my Platinum Credit Card, just no QF redemption after the 31st.

That's odd, I have just registered and been accepted for an extra 0.5 on my maximiser, i'm not sure what the criteria is?

Nope, at least not for me. I have Rewards Maximiser that is dropping from 1.5 points/$ down to 1.25 points/$ at the end of March, and no invitation for this little black duck.

Gave my Maximizer the @cough on 31st Dec! ;)

Now using the Plat - double the annual fee, but you do get a "free" Oz return flight.

That link still only works if you are targeted. And alas, I am not.

Good one, love the DATE!!!!

But I don't want the "free" flight. I am expecting the Amex is going to be retired soon. They will be given the chance to waive the fee or it goes in the bin and my free CBA Gold Visa will get all the credit (so to speak).

Another happy camper here...

Thank you. You are now registered for the promotion listed below

From April 1 to June 30 2009, you can earn 0.5 Membership Rewards bonus points on eligible purchases you charge to your registered Card during the promotion period up to a maximum of 10,000 Membership Rewards bonus points each month.

Not as generous as the previous offering, but better than nothing

I tried to sign up but was denied.

Perhaps it's targetted at people who transferred points to Qantas at some stage in recent times?

Nope, I'm on a Plat C/C with 1.5 points per $1, and I was targetted for the promo.

Nope, I've never transferred to QFF from MR.

As was the case with the 5/5000 promotion, I don't think we'll ever know what their criteria was...

I got the card in the mail today.
But I'm still waiting on points from last years bonus program.

Never transferred anything out of MR and I have an ordinary Gold credit card.

The promotion appears to have targetted people randomly....
