As per the previous post, the other thing I note is the restriction on card number e.g. my supplementary that my mother has, doesn't seem to be covered under this promo.
Yes, I was wondering this as well - does it mean supplementary cardholders, as well as other cards linked to the same Ascent program, aren't eligible for the bonus points? It did specify that only the card indicated on the front of the letter (in my case, the Platinum Credit Card) was eligible.

I have only recently obtained a Platinum Charge Card and have all my other Amex charge and credit cards (including my Platinum Credit Card) linked to the MR Ascent Premium program, so I'm not sure which cards are covered.

I guess this will have to be tested once the promotion commences, which is conveniently straight after the Earth Platinum promotion ends... ;)

Well, it seems I had a card waiting for me today in the mail. I'm in.

Only applies to my Rewards Maximiser though by the look the last card digits included in the postcard offer. .

Not sure about that.

It may just be the number that the Ascent is linked to.

As with previous promos I would assume that Supplemenrtary cards will still earn points.

However T&C state:
Only the Card that was nominated in the invitation to participate can be registered

But then it refers to account number (so who knows???):
Purchases made on another Card with a different Card account number are not eligible to receive Membership Rewards Bonus Points in the promotion.

I don't know about other types of Amex that some may have linked though.

I am assuming as T&C do not state when points will psot that as per the 2007 Electrical Stores 10point/$ promo that they will post everyday (with the 10K cap cut in in if reached). So at least one should know hopefully witha few days...so test your sup and other linked cards eraly.

woohoo! given how much I earn and spend, this will net me about 500pts a month!!
seems silly after mybonus.
but at least they're trying
qantas just gave me a postcard telling me how honoured I should be to have to chance to switch to them.

I got the postcard and am in! I just have a normal Gold Amex card and my yearly spend is very very insignificant. Even less now as I lost my job on December 31st so I have to watch the pennies very closely. I will get a few points as I charge everything I possibly can to my Amex or Visa card and don't use cash. But I notice Amex is now not accepted by Connex/Metlink for train fares anymore and I cannot pay my AGL gas and electricity on Amex. So much for their increased places to use the card.

I am not going to change my Amex card, I will use Amex points for SIA and the Visa points go direct to QFF, so I have a choice of airlines!

Glad the Myrewards promotion came while I was working and could use the card! I only got 30k points out of it but they will come in handy as I have enough now for a SIA flight to London. Though the trip will have to wait till better times. :(

I wonder if this is targeted at people who have stopped or greatly reduced their useage of their card. I stopped using mine, other than some small direct debits, in November to take advantage of the 3:1 Earth Amex.

Wouldn't seem to be the case, as I increased my Amex spend between 20 September (my registration date) and 31 December, and significantly decreased my cash spend.

Marketing have decided who's in and unless we have a mole (very unlikely). A law unto themselves with the selection process.

Could have been random numbers for all we know

I am similar, except that my use of the Max declined after Dec 31....though my Max is getting some spend due to my wife's sup Card.

On April 1 the Max will resume normal usage though.

Hi all

Saw this thread while I was OS, opted in on the amex website, and was accepted.
Came back and there was no invitation waiting for me in the mail.
A little perplexed as I thought amex had tightened up the "targeted-ness" of promos with the ...ah...shall we say, uncertainty, surrounding the myreward/everydayspending promo.
In addition, I have 2 Amex cards, so I do not know which card I was opted in for.

Anyone in a similar position?
I don't want to have points taken away from me down the line!

cheers

I was able to register online and I have not seen an invitation from Amex. But then again my correspondence system is in a mess flying back and forth from Sydney-Brisbane every week.

You need to consider that mail does get lost, misplaced, and there have been many reports on AFF of people being rejected for this promotion. If you are not sure which card it is then perhaps a call to Amex may solve that issue.

I am assuming it is my Gold card, not Qantas Premium card, and I will be lucky if I can get 3,000-4,000 bonus MR points during the promotion. No big deal if Amex decide to take the bonus MR points away....

Here we go again!!!! I am going to put through a large transaction on 1st April approx $10K. I have called Amex MR and they have advised me that they do not have any record of myself being registered for the promotion. I have also kept a copy of the screen shot showing that I have registered for the promo online. Amex MR have advised me to fax a copy of the letter and card to prove that I was targetted for the promotion. This must be a April fool promotion!!!! A problem even before the promotion starts next week. I will be faxing the letter/card to Amex MR on Mon. Hope that should fix the problem. another amex bungle even before the promotion starts!!!

When I opted in I had to enter a card number.

So if your process was the same then the Card that you entered the number of will be the one.

only the card number on the letter will be eligible.Supplementary cards are not eligible for this promotion as confirmed by Amex MR

Yes. They are getting smarter now and limiting to only one card

Thanks for that. It always pays to be clear on the rules of the game ;)

But where there is a will....there is a way !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TIP:
So if anyone has someone on a Sup......buy them some Wish Cards or Gift cards to use instead where they can. That way you still get 1.75 points per $.

Indeed also buy some more Cards just prior to the promo finishing....that way you can "s t r e t c h" the 3 months out a bit.

I did not enter a card number. When I clicked on the promotion page I was asked to provide user name and password and then the promotion confirmation page appeared showing my Ascent account which is linked to the Amex Gold card.

I didn't have to enter a card number either .. however it's interesting to note on the letter I received it had the last 5 digits of my card specifically on the letter; rather than the supp card that someone else has attached to my account.

I have a funny feeling that even though I successfully registered for this promotion I will not be getting any bonus points based on some of the things mentioned in this thread. I am not even going to bother calling Amex to find out if I am indeed registered and if I happen to receive the bonus points it will be a real bonus....
